  1. quote: as it seems that some peeps clearly think that they are not one and the same DG [/QB] Ok, the DPM is disruptive, it attempts to break up the noticable bulk of the of the human form, rather than mimic the background. when a soldier wears the clothing, it is suplemented with natural vegitation to break up the silloute or outline of the body. so, with the outline sorted with twigs n stuff, and the inner body is broken up with the random pattern of the DPM all you have to do then is sort out any shine, and sit in a tree and make like a luttice. These jackets which mimic the surroundings, attempt to make the body look like the surroundings like a tiger, however, the latter is less effective over a changing range of rear cover. then again do you want to sit there with twigs hanging off you? Not that an angler would do that, but you get my drift.
  2. Breaking news on the cammo front.. Daiwa have just announced a tree suit! it comprises of a large tube of stiff material, with a bark texture. there are 2 off shoots where the hands go, and even a little hole for ... well, ill let you guess. aparently, you will catch 30lb+ carp with it! (walking is a bit of a problem tho!) available at all local stockist, quote ref AR5E P1P3
  3. DPM isnt camoflage, its disruptive. hence the name, Disruptive Pattern Material the art of camoflage is not to look like the backgroud, but to conceal the person.DPM helps to make the normally recognisable shape of a person, less so, its designed for people, not fish. anyone who thinks that wearing expensive cammo gear will enable them to catch more fish than someone wearing DPM should seriously consider getting out more. blend with the background by all means, but remember, a wise angler once said... bait is for catching fish tackle is for catching anglers....
  4. Variety is the spice of life. Since taking up fishing again 3 months ago, ive learnt how to fish the waggler, in-line methods with hair rigs, fly fish for surface rudd/rainbows on big lakes, on the drop for surface carp. and im still hooked
  5. Been there, it only advertises its products, you cant buy direct. booo!! any other ideas? Mind you, i was cracked off twice today, so may be i look at other line.... cheers anyhow
  6. both myself and a friend have just started (about 3 mths ago). we basically went into my local shop with said budget in pocket and asked for a nice waggler rod and a half decent reel (with spare spool) for £X cash (in our case £100 quid), we both were sorted with an excellent rod and reel combo, plus line, shot, few floats. he plumbed for a little kids starter kit (hes 30!) which, although came in the most pathetic box the world has ever seen, had all the bits in it he needed, for 15 quid. ive been happily fishing the near shelf of my local canal, and so far had really good results (4 1/2 pound bream on leicester canal is worth a double on a muddy puddle any day ;o] anyhow, the main advice is to do it, and often, ive fished about 3 times a week, in stints of a couple of hours during the week, and one early starter on the weekend, and have built up quite a good standing (as long as its leicester canal!!) its great, and more addictive than smack. Go get yourself the basics with what you can afford and get out there!! HTH CTF
  7. Im hoping someone out there can help me track down some Ultima XT7 line. it was given as a free gift with match angling plus, i was well taken with it and would like to get hold of some more, however, i cant find any online retailers that sell it. does anyone know of anywhere? alternatively, any other good quality line for hooklenghts, however, i would prefer the XT7. Cheers in adv. CTF.
  8. i also had my first blank of the season the other day. so, yesterday, out came the fly rod, instead of a fly i was using granary bread, and took some great roach/rudd off the surface of a lock pool. great fun, and certainly put my blank out of my mind!!
  9. have you tried different pattern hooks? i had similar problems, so i changed to 611s and now i get less bumps. hth
  10. i was hoping someone would have got the answer by now. not to worry, weederd fits...
