  1. hi all i'm going to swangey lakes within the next month and would be grateful for any advice eg. tactics, bait, favoured swims etc thanks in advance craig
  2. stacked with fish from low doubles to 30+ alot of fish between 10 and 20lbs though plenty of gravel bars and plateaus
  3. are you allowed to use tiger nuts on the water, if so i would use these as the tench and bream seam to leave them alone.
  4. forgot to add tezza i've always used a bait called skunk and geranium from darenth valley baits p.s let me know how you get on
  5. read something in a magazine about rehydrating your baits with hemp juice. basically you air dry your baits then soak them in the juice of your cooked hemp, this way when they lie on the silty lake bed they cant take on board the smell of the silt because they are already laden with hemp juice.the only downside is that they are very soft so nuisance fish could be a problem
  6. been there a couple of times, i would fish pegs 1-5 or 31,32 or the island. If fishing 1-5 i would fish 1 rod on or around the bar at 35-40 yds and 1 rod at range 100yds + , if fishing 31 fish to the reeds on right, and if fishing the island fish to the far margin, had success using all of the above but most of all have never used the method which is whats always recommended.i havent fished 32 but this is where the fish used to be when it was out of bounds
  7. ive got a broadlands boat very basic but easy to work on if they go wrong, which is rare.this boat did well over 200 runs of 150 yds plus in a week and never faultered once
  8. i associate mouth damage with fish that are caught countless times in a season unless people are hauling them in of course.fish that are caught only a couple of times a season have the time for their hook wounds to heal.and as for heavy leads causing mouth damage, i used 4oz leads all last season and dont remember seeing mouth damage on any of the fish that i caught, maybe its the way people play fish, maybe its the nature of the lake as fish in silty lakes tend to have softer mouths
  9. hi katch tried to get on your site but it said that the site had been changed or moved craig
  10. i would stick with boilies used with a pva bag of some sort.normally they will have a feed up to build up their energy prior to spawning, so if your doing a night it might pay to put small bed of bait out to get the fish into the area. the main thing is location though, if you can find then your half way to catching them craig
  11. i use 18mm boilies fished over 14mm boilies for all my fishin, home and abroad i will sometimes use a double hookbait if havin trouble with nuisance fish
  12. yeah probably gonna get a green card aswell will be comin over to av a look soon. does it get busy craig
  13. cheers for the info bubbles might see you soon do you fish there cosmic carper? cheers craig
  14. i'm thinking about fishing here this coming season can anyone give me any info on the fishery ie. fish stocks, tactics, which lake to go for etc any help appreciated craig p.s looking to catch 1st 30
  15. i think what gaffer is trying to say is, boilies with a high nutritional value will be accepted as a food source in the long term, whereas a highly flavoured boilie (shelflife) will have a much more immediate effect but this is only short term as the carp will eventually recognise that the shelflife boilie isnt as high in nutrition as the frozen boilie craig
  16. i use super mantis 25lb for summer and winter i dont feel the need to change craig
  17. hi sam depending on what sort of cash your lookin to part with, i would buy a second hand complete setup. as for general knowledge about carpin i would get on a decent bait. Alot of people spend a fortune on the gear, then buy a cheap bait and wonder why they dont catch. also spend a bit of time trying to find the fish i know it sounds obvious but many carpers pick a swim cos its comfy and not too far to walk there gear to (i've been guilty of this in the past and its fair to say it has cost me a few fish) let me know how you get on craig
  18. if possible i would prebait a couple of swims and then when you come to fish put out pva bag over the spots you prebaited. This time of year they should be having a feed up ready to see them through the winter. as for bait i would you a good quality boilie(frozen readymade) ie. activ 8/maple 8 craig
  19. check out the dynamite baits range there tigers are brilliant. i use 2 mini tigers on a hair rig fished over a bed of chopped tigers and hemp, all ways works for me craig
  20. you just have to keep tryin theyre a bit of a nightmare, its worth the effort.
  21. have you tried prebaiting ziffy, this has helped me lately craig
  22. the water level on my local lake is down about 2 feet, i fished last night and had a mid double and 2 20's. so i guess you say that it doesnt affect the fish in our lake cheers craig
  23. hello ziffy maize is a quality bait for catchin carp i have been using it all summer and in france for a week with good results(see jonchery). Its about this time of year that i stop using it though prefering to use boilies as the fish will be havin a feed up before winter sets in(others might disagree). You can use it pva bags as long as you dry it out for obvious reasons.I have been using 1 piece of maize and 1 piece of artificial maize which seems to give a semi bouyant feel to the hookbait let me know what you decide and good luck craig
  24. see jonchery topic , about 4 1/2 hours from calais
