  4. Last time I was on Admirality - all I saw was flytipping!!
  5. Myrtyle Beach seems to be the place for blacktip shark. Blacktip shark - like a lemon shark only more aggressive
  6. Usually it's not a problem but set the drag for the reel class and not the mono to save drag washer burn out. Quite a few anglers use a braid backing and a long mono leader 100yrds plus - though the reels should be capable of landing the type of species that your targeting. I've seen some big threshers caught 250lb+ which can nearly strip 400m of 80lb line from a reel.

  8. Is there no flatties showing around Erskine/Bowling yet? If not I'd try Furnace quarry - fishing out to the right - always doggies and a chance that other species may show up.
  9. I'd be up for it - though there's a few club outings I'd need to avoid clashing with.
  10. Try here - not sure how up to date it is. www.fishsea.co.uk/pages/boatdirecto...om=FishScotland
  11. I prefer reels of 'character' mackerel scales and worm juices On saying that - just spent an hour cleaning sand out of my 7ht after getting sandblasted on Sunday...... Just how crap is that handle after using a 525/6500 for ages !!
  12. Sounds like one http://www.southcoasttoday.com/daily/07-96...96/b01lo041.htm

    Wuz I done?

Sounds like a lead lift ? Anything brightly coloured could be used to attract fish - so maybe not all is lost.
  14. Bit of a bummer Matt ! But I notice that you've never spilled the beer - good man! [ 20. April 2005, 03:20 PM: Message edited by: KennyC ]
  15. Matt, if you have a second rod try fishing mackerel on it for turbot. One of the guys caught an undersized one at the weekend down in East Lothian. I think they come inshore April/May then move away until September/October.
  16. Somewhere cool and dark - corner of the garage floor or a cool box with ice packs. Overnight shouldn't be too difficult wrapped up in damp newspaper - any longer then check for dead worms as they can contaminate and kill the others.
  17. Keep an eye out on Shaun peeps - all those big fish he's been catching at LA seems to be having some weird effects. Yesterday he poured a bucket of smelly water over my feet then stood on my flounder - a few weeks back he handlined up one of my spudog from 200ft, with me wondering why I never had a bite for ages

    MAKERAL

Skippy, if you want to bag up on mackerel then a string of feathers cast out with a 4-5oz will take them four at a time - if you can locate the shoals. A silver lure on a light spinning rod is better fun though Mid June usually sees the fish appearing in numbers from Berwick round to Granton ( Edinburgh ).
  19. Usually they inhabit rocky/kelpy ground - the rocks between Anstruther and Cellardyke are easily accessible. Use a big float as they will try and swim for cover when hooked, the greater the resistance the less chance of getting pulled straight into a snag.
  20. Anstruther round to St Andrews would probably be the closest.
  21. Two sandeels topped and tailed - whipped onto a 2/0 pennel with bait elastic on a pulley rig. A neat compact bait good for using behind a bait shield if you need that extra distance.
  22. If you get the chance to fish Elliot next month or sep/Oct try mackerel strip on a 1/0 pennel for turbot
  23. Nice fish, Shaun Resized... [ 11. April 2005, 09:25 AM: Message edited by: KennyC ]
