  1. BEWARE of the clause YACHT in the insurance, i once shipped a boat to Gambia, when it arrived it was stripped bare, just a hull and trailer. When i tried to claim on the insurance, they tried to throw out the claim for the engine, claiming i had insured a yacht. It took a long time to get my money, also deck cargo is cheaper but probably not to be advised, it sometimes falls off, also some of the crew may find it is better to sleep in than their quarters.
  2. Try www.animatedknots.com Its brilliant
  3. Another sence of humour failure
  4. Emz when you find that you are not getting anywhere, give it a rest for a couple of days and when you pick it up again for some strang reason the chord or solo you struggled with is a lot easier. Well it works for me
  5. Of course its making money ats a business. But i can phone the UK for about a euro an from Portugal, and nothing else comes close to that.
  6. Lets not be to hasty about the wine Steve, its very good here and very cheap. Norm you are still confusing me with Bob, i spoke to him this morning and he is in the UK for 10 days but the boat is doing well might be ready for June he thinks. The fiahing is just starting to pick up now with the first of the Blue sharks coming aboard so it will only get better now as the water is warming up nicely (17c today). Dave
  7. Can anybody please explain the E U fishery rules regarding size limits. Yesterday i went to the local fish dock to try to arrange a supply of sardines for the summer shark fishing. I saw a large fish box full of very small rays (Thornbacks i think) they were all the same size and none were bigger than 6 inches across. I also regulary see soles in the supermarket fish counters, they are piled high and the average size is 3-4 inches. Surely this must contravene the regulations or is ther UK the only country that takes any notice!!!
  8. I do not think thats can be right Hugh, it looks far to simple to be the answer for my wife!!!!!
  9. Hi Ziggy, i got that info from my bank when a guy tried to but my charter boat with a bankers draft. It was a good draft but it have been stolen and i would not have known until the bank bounced it. Initially it would have shown in my account as cleared but then taken back out of my account by the bank, Be Warned
  10. Nick, bankers draughts take 30 days to clear, when you put it in your bank it shows on your balance. If it duff you will not know for thirty days by then your car is long gone. Except cash only mate!!!!

    mono or wire

I have been using a 12ft length of 250lbs mono and 12inches of 250lbs multistrand wire. this is for Blue and Mako shark. No trouble with the mono but hey still bite through the wire every so often. I tend to keep my fingers out of the way when unhooking them!!!!

    Fuji

I had a problem with my Fuji 602, so i found the Fuji website and located a service agent in Portugal. I emailed them and got the postal address and posted off my camera. Within a week it was returned, with a part replaced, and a general service. All this was FOC including the return postage even though the camera is about four years old. Brilliant!!!!

  17. One thing to remember is that any charter skipper is dealing with the public, and no matter how many of the qualities you posess you you can never please everybody with the best will in the world
  18. I wonder how long it will be before we see @spring@ not to long i hope!
  19. Sam i know that you know the north bank of the Crouch very well, so you will know the biggest point that sticks out into the river. I tried fishing just to the east of that point on spring tides working on the theory that on the ebb they will have to come out of the bays and get caught in the flow which will bring them close in to the point then they head for the shallow in the next bay. I was fishing quite close to the shore just out of the main tide run, easily within casting distance and the theory worked a treat.
  20. CJS2 use the same breaking strain as you would with mono, then the braids diameter is greatly reduced in comparison allowing you to use miuch lighter weights and then mucher lighter rods. All this will enhance your sport giving you great fun with average fish, you WILL NOT go back trust me. Dave
  21. In Portugal where i now live i regulary see piles of soles on the fish counter in the supermarkets. The piles are often 1ft high and all the soles are no more than 4 inches long, i kid you not. These are openly on sale every day of the week, but then again these people go hunting for sparrows to eat.
  22. As in my profile, Albufeira, Portugal
  23. Bluse skies, sunny, about 15c . Srry guys i couldn't resist it!!!
