It's my favourite rod for clean beach fishing. Fairly powerful in the butt section, with a good fishing tip. Although it's advertised as a match rod, I think it's somewhere between that and a mixed ground rod. Worth every penny.

Because of a printers error in the brochure for this years Open on January 15th, the club needs to stress that the weigh-in is from 3.00pm to 4.00pm. Also, hot food will be available before and after the event, from the Radcliffe Club.

Greys Amble Open 2012 Sunday January 15th. Fishing from 10.00am to 3.00pm. Weigh-in at Radcliffe Club Amble 3.00pm - 4.00pm Anglers must be in the queue before 4.00pm for their fish to count. Tickets available from local tackle shops prior to the day, or from Radcliffe Club and Amble Angling Centre on the morning of the Open. Entry fee £12 all classes. All juniors returning to the weigh-in with a valid entry ticket will receive a Greys goodie bag. Boundaries are from Seahouses south pier(excluding the pier) to the pipe at Lynemouth. If you're using fish baits (strips), use circle hooks. More chance of lip hooking the fish.

I'd have to say the Reelsport Response for most scenarios, including kelp and rough ground, followed by the new Tip Tornado LD, great for clean beach and mixed ground.

Managed a couple of hours yesterday about 3/4 mile north of Creswell (Green Skeers?) area. Managed 2 whities and 4 flats, including this one ! First one I've seen for a while. All the fish would touch was squid.

I'll go along with that. They're the only artificial bait I've ever had fish on, and I've tried the lot !! Worst of the lot is that lincolnshire peeler rubbish.

Have you thought about a Ron Thompson Axellerator ? For £100 you won't get a better rod for hauling in vast quantities of weed !

If you could stretch your budget a little more, have a look at the Greys GRX-S , an excellent rod for the money (below £100)

Do not, under any circumstances, waste your hard-earned on this rubbish. I have yet to hear of anyone catching ANYTHING with them, not even crabs will go anywhere near them. I tried them a couple of winters ago when whiting were around in plague proportions, and guess what was the only bait to come back untouched ? Yup, the lincolnshire peeler crap. Avoid it at all costs.

Started our club match on Sunday at Beadnell, then on to Embleton......both unfishable because of vast quantities of weed. Shame, it's quite a spectacular setting to fish.

I sent my slosh 30 to daiwa to get sorted (it's been playing up a bit), and got a phone call today from them telling me it will cost £89 to fix it...£89 !!! Can anyone explain how a £60 reel can cost £89 to fix ? I'll get someone local to have a look at it, and if it can't be fixed, guess what I'll replace it with......yeah....anything but a daiwa. Greedy b**t***s ! Please warn your colleagues not to use daiwa service if they need a reel looking at ! £89.....crooks.
