  1. Perhaps we could change the logo to, Sea Angling News, Team, Catchalot.
  2. It's a long way to go for a burger though. Worth it if there is some fishing with Davy on the menue as a starter By the way Norm, I emailed Dave for a copy of the Picture with you and your SAN top so that I could post a topic but have had no reply If you have a copy could you email it to me please? Cheers Alan [/QB] Hi Alan, yes I have a copy, I'll send it now if I can find it

    Everol Reels

I think we may be able to come to some arrangement on this matter, providing I get one to test that is.
  6. Great news but the silence from the NFSA getting on this band waggon is deafening. Why is our national body so quiet? Apart from TT's statement,"dolphins aren't fish", when asked about "what's the NFSA doing about pair trawling and dolphin deaths", they have been struck dumb. Greenpeace apparently raised £8,000,000 to "save the dolphins" a share of that would've saved the NFSA.

    Everol Reels

I await my free sample to review then.
  8. I have some "sturdy rods" but I'm trying to get away from them and go for a more "exciting rod", 50-80lb class but longer and more forgiving, one that allows the fish to go through it's paces, as opposed to using the rod as the jib and the reel as the winch. I think I'm getting there with the Shakespeare Catchalot/Conger rod with the AFTCO braid rollers. Custom rod but at off the shelf price. If Shakespeare accept it I'm sure the first six will go north.
  9. Sounds like a good idea to me Paul. I've always felt better after giving my vote to the opposition. They are all as bad as each other but Liar Blair is just too much to stomach, could they not get some Enoch Powell DNA and clone a new one. In 21 years he'd be just the person to sort it all out, if there's a country left, that is.
  10. The new Tyrex rods from Ian Golds have added yards to my casts and they are so light and sensitive they're a pleasure to fish with. Not the cheapest rods on the market but you get more than what you pay for
  11. As someone said to Ted Tuckerman, chairman of the NFSA, "Why doesn't the NFSA condem pair trawling for killing the dolphins", he replied, "because dolphins aren't fish". I personally would have no problems,"riding on the backs of dolphins",if it got pair trawling banned or even restricted. The general public think dolphins are fish, so use their ignorance to further your cause. [ 24. July 2004, 10:35 PM: Message edited by: Norm B ]
  12. I've just sent him one too. If we kick them when they are wrong, we should praise them when they are right.
  13. Keep the coasters but use an ABU Elite or Mag Elite, that should give you a few extra yards for starters but a rod that suits you will give you even more distance as most Penn rods are not known for their distance casting. If you've got a spare £40 or so buy a Shakespeare Mentor or a s/hand rod that you feel comfortable with as the right rod will increase distance more than a change of reel. [ 23. 14. Great news if it works but he must get some credit just for trying, even if he doesn't acknowledge letters and e-mails. What's his e-mail address Leon, perhaps a bit of encouragement won't go amiss.
  15. I did a review on them for the SAN and I found that used in conjunction with bait they caught more fish than bait alone from the boat. Used on their own they caught fish but at a slower rate. From the shore they didn't make any difference at all when bait was tipped with it. On their own they still caught fish but again at a slower rate, but they don't claim it to be better than bait but an alternative when bait is unavailable, unlike that Ultrabite stuff. I tested it and it made no difference at all, no more, no less fish, no bigger fish, no smaller fish. The hook baits soaked in it caught exactly the same number of fish of the same size and same species as baited hooks fished without it. And you can't use it on its own. It's made a lot of money for some people though, good marketing or what!
  16. Unless you have a levelwind on a multiplier and some way of tensioning the line as you wind it in, you will cut your thumb in half, by all accounts. Weymouth Angling Centre tells me that there is no suitable braid for multiplier casting yet. That should stir a few things up! In a word "B****X"
  17. Perchance I have a Daiwa Saltiga Z4500 and it's a fixed spool reel, I didn't know they made a multiplier version.
  18. I think there may just be a slight, little tadge of a niggle there. None of the mags like losing advertising to a rival, especially to one they feel is inferior and when you consider that SA was known as Penn Angler for a couple of years I expect it grates a bit.
  19. Congers don't have teeth as such, certainly not ones that could meet through a hand. They're like bristles that slope backwards. Congers don't bite through their prey, they either swallow it whole or, if it's too big they hold it and spin their body and wrench chunks off, hence the surprise that the diver still has his arm attached to his body.
  20. And the picture in the Daily Express was of a Moray Eel, so if that was the eel that grabbed him, what was it doing so far from it's home waters? And 12ft, 250lb for a Moray Eel, I don't think so. I think it's a take off of the "shark attack" on a navy diver off Falmouth, a story told through a beer glass. He had to confess when the tourists started to stay away.
