  1. From your own link.. Quote In practice, the right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and the right is commonly subject to limitations.. Unquote What Nick wrote is undeniably true. It is clear however that many still do not understand the subject despite his efforts on many posts to put it in as clear a way as possible. Judges quote from the original article District Judge Tim Pattinson told her: "It is difficult to think of a clearer example of disorderly behaviour than to climb or attempt to climb a barrier at a highly security-sensitive public occasion." Unquote Bearing in mind the two quotes from above, she was convicted. Having "freedom of speech"... Isn't a blank cheque to say whatever you want whenever you want, it always has to fit within boundaries set out by the laws of the country in which the event occurs.
  2. Sorry, but i think that is just nonsense. If someone has committed an offence then prosecute....
  3. Ive never been into a British prison, but the people i speak to who have, dispute the idea, (put forward by the media primarily) that they are "The easy life". If he has committed offences in the UK, (and from what i can see he has)...Then prosecute him...I really cant see why they dont.
  4. It has nothing to do with the EU. Simple really, some of the evidence used against him was obtained by torture. Are you ok with torture used to gain evidence? Or or you happier with the more "traditional" Western values of a fair trial? Which is it? One or the other.
  5. Because he would then have been previously tried for the offence, and wouldn't face a second prosecution for the same alleged crime?
  6. You could sell those photos...Just the sort of thing the tabloids love. Send them to them. You might get a surprise.
  7. Thats down to the legal people to convict on a charge that enables deportation. That is what they do here.
  8. So put him on trial. Then if found guilty hopefully you can make his life unpleasant.
  9. Unfortunately whatever his nationality, he is in the UK and subject to your laws... The same as a Brit who lives here is subject to Spanish law and not the law of his/her country of origin.(Although i have met a few "seriously"! that have thought otherwise) Why your country doesn't put him on trial for the things he has done i don't know. There appear to be grounds certainly. We put people on trial and expel them (If they are found guilty) on a regular basis.... But regardless....Dont whatever you do allow the politicians to convince any of you that you need to get rid of any of the legislation that actually protects you.
  10. But you ARE following your laws...And without the interference of politicians which is the main thing you should be glad of. I doubt that many of you have lived under a dictatorship as i have...When it was politicians/military/bastards that could decide your fate according to how it suited them...You really...i mean REALLY do not want to go down that road. He needs to be put on trial in the UK and do whatever with him...But the anti human rights talk is dangerously ill informed. You are playing directly into the hands of politicians who would like even more power over your lives. Dont go there, or let them try and tell you that it will in some way "benefit" you....They are lying.
  11. That is what leads to dictatorship, and believe me you do not want that.
  12. For sure the nation has to answer for some things. But domestic terror type stuff ive not noted.
  13. We do.The Partido Popular is right wing. More so than UK right wing it would appear as well
  14. Exactly right...We have exactly the same human rights laws as yourselves...But i don't read of similar problems. It must be the interpretation and implication that is different.
  15. I have seen plenty of people suggesting that "We need to get rid of "Human rights" Worms..
  16. Governments must laugh themselves stupid, when their own subjects/citizens themselves, suggest getting rid of one of the only mechanisms that protect those same subjects/citizens, against abuse of power by those same governments.
  17. Ive seen a few things about that Duncan Smith. He seems a very unpleasant character.
  18. Looks horrible. Couldn't cope with that cold.
  19. Very pleasant here at full blue sunny skies and 20c in the shade today. We seemed to be having a lot of British early this year.....I can see why now!
  20. Her country paid all medical costs. Her father is on the diplomatic staff at their embassy now..So his family is entitled to be with him............ In exactly the same way that British families are accommodated around the world with British diplomats. This case is something that the British should be very proud of...That Britain was acknowledged as being a safe haven, with the democratic environment that would encourage this very special person.
  21. Who would have thought she would have even survived. Great work by the medical staff and others.
  22. no sign of panic still........... El Pais English edition is run by Americans by the way. I had a row with them last week how they "forgot" they are being sued by the Governing party of Spain on deformation of Character stories they have printed. They totally ignored this rather massive story in all of their editions, which was carried by every other paper in the country.
  23. Dave, you will find that most bars have free WIFI...Even a couple of tiny ones where we are. A cup of coffee and ask for the code and you are connected.
