  1. Cheers Den. I'm getting a tad worried that I'm boring folk with my birding shots, but as POTD should always be near the top of the board & birding stuff is what I take, I keep on posting 'em to give it a hoof. What we really need is some of those excellent landscapes shots that Randles fella takes.
  2. Hi Ken, I hope you've not been carried off & eaten alive by that huge owl? I'd not previously heard of a Canvasback, but having just done a google I see how similar the Pochard & Canvasback are. From having a quick read it would seem they are related, nicked from somewhere on the net: - As for the Coot, I snapped one at close quarters earlier today (shame i chopped its tail off).
  3. One man & his dogs. Taken by: Cliff Raby Exif data: - Date/Time: 2006:02:16 14:08:35 Focal length: 140.0mm (35mm equivalent: 210mm) Exposure time: 0.0008 s (1/1250) Aperture: f/11.0 ISO equiv.: 400
  4. Severus, it's an ambition of mine to photograph an Owl in the wild, & your missus goes & snaps one in your back garden, that's hardly fair. It's a cracking shot though, the Owl looks massive, well done to Mrs severus! Blue marlin, what a smashing shot, the silhouette & tranquil sea look terrific. Nice one!
  5. Chesters & Gillies I'm in the when I remember, or more accurately, the when I get around to it catergory. I keep promising myself i'm gonna start burning my images to DVD more frequently. I shall now strive to follow the example of the two of you.
  6. Nice Robin shot Paul, I hope you checked it hadn't fallen in your rucksack before heading home? I snapped this Pochard getting chased off by a Coot earlier today.
  7. I'm the worlds worst for not getting around to backing up my photos, I'd be gutted if my hardrive packs up on me. One idea I've come up with to safeguard my shots, I've started to post all of my images on this forum, so, just as long as Anglers Net doesn't go tits up, I'll beable to still view them for years to come!
  8. I agree with Ollie, smashing shots & No. 2 is a beauty.
  9. WOW - Very nice of you Steve!
  10. Glad the wedding & the photographs all went well. Nice shots Cameraman, love the saucy one.
  11. I'm glad you did, I'd somehow managed to overlook this. What a result. I've never even seen a Bittern despite spending many hours visiting reserves where they are allegedly spotted. Great story & great photo Den.
  12. Fabulous shot Frantic.
  13. Cheers guys, your help is much appreciated.
  14. We certainly did Steve, the main reason for the visit was to "meet & photograph the owls". The problem was, when we got there we were told the "meet the owl" sessions don't start until today. Bugger! I did get to photograph them, but only through the grills of their enclosures, which at the time were quite gloomy. Still, it's a good excuse to go back later in the year as the weather warms up, plus, as you say, the beautiful gardens will then be in bloom.
  15. It was indeed Steve. The structure being the Pepperpot. Here's another taken from the same spot.
  16. Cheers Steve. They were actually taken in what is probably your back yard? Any guesses??
  17. A couple from yesterday, cropped & not the sharpest despite my efforts in Photoshop, but here goes: -
  18. How weird is that? I never saw that happen in Skippy. Great photos TB, you were definitely in the right place at the right time. Was it trying to cool off?
  19. Cameraman, good luck to you & I hope all goes well for your son & his intended. I can't help with the wedding photos, I think I'd be that worried I was going to mess up I wouldn't beable to hold the camera steady. Don't forget to come back & share a few photos with us, especially of those bridesmaids.
  20. MrW, I love the church shot. I think the church, headstones & tree all draw your eye in the photo & I didn't even noticed the houses until you mentioned them. Steve, I think they could be Sanderling or maybe Dunlin. The wing markings for this time of year are similar, looking at the short bills, I'm leaning towards Sanderling.
  21. Thanks all for your kind comments. Lid, I was using a Konica Minolta 5D, complete with a KM 75-300 zoom lens, mainly at the 300 end. & Yep, I have done some post shot processing, I can't remember just what, but probably cropping, levels & unsharp mask. On the subject of processing, does anyone know how to effectively get rid of the rocks in the foreground of the 1st seal shot? Cheers Cliff
  22. Had a trip to Chester zoo today, enjoyed some lovely & well overdue sunshine, although it was flippin cold in the shade. I also enjoyed spending the day with my laydeez - wife, daughter, granddaughter, so all was well with the world. Plus I took my camera! Happy days! I could go on, but I'll leave it at that. Hope you like 'em Cliff
  23. I remember when all you could see in the above shot was nothing but just fields. Nice photos - It looks a smashing location Judy. Cliff
  24. Now that is a beautiful location! Fabulous photo Mr wriggley, thanks for sharing.
