  1. why not?if it helps me catch why not?if they they have been already feeding on them and ignore most other offerings why not?when used sensibly and not piled in why not?i fish with one rod,no alarms,oh and i wear a floppy hat bolt rigs?pah they hook themselves most of the time anyway bolt rig or not.
  2. lol yes indeed smiles are what its all about maybe angler pressure has made them wary of beds of bait?or they have yet to spawn and are waiting not activley feeding?or tightly grouped ready to spawn .>>cheers again for the books info mate, payday friday! winghams a fair size water i beleive bit difrent in terms of temprature and movements of fish compared to a small pond, i do like the sound of these worm flavoured expander pllets!
  3. steve, nice bream sir!i see the photos in the papers of a couple, looked big and you looked happy!asfor your elusive tench, wellthe same has happened at a smaller lakei fish numbers caught gone down, most beleive it due to spawning, the bream i beleive may have just finished hence them being on the feed.BTW have you still got them tony miles books in?
  4. niced size fish jk,if you can get it john baker baits are superb aswell.saying that there are times when the maggot/caster and hemp approach will fare better .

  7. bonjela or orabase(available at chemists)it might help, but them wounds look quite bad, especially if it puntured any internal organs,a fishery owner who i know once told me he used table salt to quaterize the spawning wounds on his carp,he said it was safe to do and he rekons its worth doing.not alot you can do mate some survive some dont ive caught a few jacks with wounds simalar and big chub too.not seen qany carp attacked tho.and barbel ive seen it on too you can see it in some photos in the papers.i beleive cormarants will attack a larger than it can eat prey simpley because its there and it can, herons i dont know?maybe it was spawning in the shallows and got caught out??
  8. nice tench chris!!thats a lovely fish, bet that put up a scrap with that "paddle" tail, looks like jeepster was right it is good.said it before say iy agian tench move off baits and rigs far quicker than carp.anyone else agree disagree?i want one now.. my pb is only 5lb caught a few weeks ago.
  9. couldnt agree more, and being he obvoiusly knows bugger all about pike whos gonna deal with it on the bank?
  10. yes go on the waymasters!!(it is spelt like that..)my set have held on for ages maybe i should invest in a new set.but i do like them avons,i remeber dreaming about catching a fish that would actaully pull the needle round!
  11. i do choose!!i use various make and names the clours range from brown to an orangey type(not bright) and one that s beigey/brown,if im fishing clear water i go for the less obtrusive colour i can use.i know ian welch and martin bowler have experimented with entaprise artifical pop-boilies and they are a bright look at me colour, yellow i think.highly flavoured aswell(they hold flavour well as all entaprise baits do).and i know they work.on hard fished barbel rivers doin g something a lil difrent may help.
  12. haha im young my self mate(23) but i look younger and i have had trouble in the past, you just gotta remeber there kids,i tell them how it his,ie f*k off downstream and make noise otherwise one of ya's going swimming!some dont ned to be tol dlike that a quite word is all thats needed.i dont care how many there are i aint having know 14-16 year old try it with me.

  14. Peduncles aye, where they irish or romany gypsies my lot are all tinkas, well some of them oh yes th e old fitzpatrick clan mate, "gissa go of ya rod mister" well at least ya didnt blank!
  15. well stan cast out, reel in slowly until you feel the marker float " donk aganist the lead ,(the float is tied on first followed by a bead or two and a lead on the line free running,if the venue is weedy, try a short four inch link, tie the bomb to this and put a cork ball or simailar above the lead on the link, this will help it rise above the weed.ideally tho if it isnt rising it aint a clear patch,if you are happy with your placement of the float leave it there when you want to fish(to avoiding fouling the line when you get a take)simply wind down to the lead and lay the marker rod on the ground with the tip submerged.to gauge the depth it is best to use a baitrunner and mark your rod with tipp-ex exactly 12 inches up from the reel, then with baitrunner on and marker cast otu and wind down to thel ead and release a foot(12inches) of line at a time till th efloat rises then you have your depth,to find out what is on the bottom, drag the lead along it(you can buy leads specially for this they have stubbs that bring back bits of what ever is on the bottom twigs, weed etc)you will feel either smoothand slow is usaully silt ]stick and release is weed and bump bump bump is gravel use braid for this and a proper marker rod and you will be amazed what you can find.takes practice tho. good lu mate hope the info helps [ 20. 18. intersting,i found out on my tenching trip that alot of the tench fall to waggler fished expander pellet, banded to the hook, maybe if i add a little v.d.e. liquid worm i will up my catch rate.anothert one to try.
