  1. I was only joking mate Now I come to think about it I have seen a couple of ladies fishing on their own at the fly fishing only loch at Colmonell in Ayrshire Whilst out walking my dog I recently spotted a couple in the distance walking along the bank of the tidal river Trent along way from a road etc so I decided to be nosey and see what the attraction of such a long walk was and they turned out to be a old couple 70+, when I found them they were stood knee deep in mud and the old guy had one of the largest rucsacs that I have ever seen, it would not have looked out of place on someone in the SAS on manouvers They told me that they had been fishing this particular spot for over 50 years and they just liked the peace and quiet. Alan.
  2. I see many women fishing on the rivers and lakes in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire, this probably says something about the Scots attitude to women lol I must admit that I have never seen a woman fishing alone, always with a male companion! Alan.
  3. My wife would like to scan some slides and negatives and she is going to buy a dedicated scanner to do it,. can anyone recommend a good quality film scanner please? Her budget is approx £500 max. Alan.
  4. I don't know if this has been posted before? if it has I apologise. http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=...269671806009973 Alan.
  5. I have seen something similar to this before, I think the fish are just reacting to the light but why I don't know Alan.
  6. My vote would also be for the JRC Dave Lane STI Brolly, try it and see if you actually need the overwrap. What length sessions are thinking of fishing? I used to do 6 & 7 days summer stints under a brolly without any trouble but I would use a overwrap in the colder seasons. I can recommend Climax tackle, clued up staff and excellent service. Alan.
  7. Enjoy the fishing mate Alan.
  8. I might be wrong as I am not familiar with Telford but the only river Don's that I know of are the one that flows through the Don valley ( Sheffield, Rotherham and Doncaster ) and one in Scotland! I thought that Telford was near / on the Severn? Alan.
  9. Everything you could probably ever need and more for approx £6 for 20gigs worth http://www.easynews.com/ Alan.
  10. Your first port of call should be Leegem Angling in Chesterfield or Climax tackle in Dronfield, you will get up to the minute info. You could try here, http://www.waterscape.com/fishing Alan.
  11. Send Chris Goddard a pm, ( he is in France at the moment so be patient ) he will sort you out with a bargain, he is a top guy to deal with Alan.
  12. Welcome to AnglersNet What sort of club are you looking for? Do you want to fish matches on various venues or are you looking for a club that owns a water? Smeatons only has a handful of pegs ( 5 or 6 ) on the Trent and they will all produce Barbel on the right day etc, halibut pellets work well as do fish flavoured boilies. There are plenty of pike to be caught as well as chub, roach, bream etc. Alan.
  13. Just what I need for cleaning the souls of my wellies Alan.
  14. I read a review in a computer magazine earlier this year and Panda came out bottom below all the free AV programs which pretty much backed up my thoughts when I tried it free for a month! IT's PANTS! AVG has let me down a couple of times in the past but no AV software can offer 100% protection but I now use Kaspersky and I have not had any problems at all in nearly 2 years. Alan.
  15. Bargain I'll keep my eyes peeled Alan.

  18. You could do a lot worse than contacting Chris Goddard on this very forum, great guy to deal with Alan.
  19. Cheers, I have just downloaded it and I am looking forward to listening to it later this evening Alan.
  20. Have a look here, http://www.yorkshirefishing.net/index.php Click on venues and away you go Alan.
  21. I enjoy catching all species but my favourite would have to be the Eel ( anything over a pound in weight that is! ) they give a tremendous fight for their size and it's a pity that more anglers don't appreciate them. Alan.
  22. I can't believe that you are getting billed for what happened I think you are doing a fantastic job with regards to this site and it would be a crying shame but toally understandable in the circumstances if you felt the need to call it a day If there is anything that I can do to help, however small etc? give me a shout Alan.
  23. Nice game Julian, it has provided some much needed light entertainment and a few PB's over the last few days Alan.
