  1. Is this still 8th and 24th of next month and if so is the 8th still full?
  2. Sounds like fun, I can't commit at this point though when would you need to know by?
  3. A tiny piece of bread flake on a size 16 or 18 is a cracking Crucian bait in the margins, roll little bread maggots and flick them round the float little and often. I've come over all nostalgic, I spent many school holidays happily catching Crucians on the float at a little pool close to where I lived. Maggots flavoured with Turmeric where another good bait.
  4. If he ended up with a Lake in every county I'd be amazed. Budgie, out of interest what was your reply to his mates comments about the Coarse Lake at Wingham?
  5. I hope this fails miserably but only because I dislike the man and what he stands for. In principal though Budgie is it any different to what we were talking about on the Tenchfishers page about them securing some waters to secure Tench fishing for the future other than Danny Fairbrass has the cash behind him to do something about it? It might not be a bad thing anyway, all the Crap Yobs will want to move off the mixed fisheries and onto his Lakes - everyone's a winner!
  6. I usually use 8lb or 10lb rated Catana at 0.28mm and 0.30mm respectively. Think I'll try the Pro Clear 12lb rated at 0.29mm.
  7. Fished a match in France as a kid. They tied polystyrene cool boxes to themselves and just let them float on the surface, worked a treat.

  9. Tigger, I had the same issue on that water. I upped the hook size considerably and fished a lump of halibut pellet paste, seemed to work that time.
  10. Hello, has anyone bought or used these reels from Shimano? The marketing blurb is basically saying they're an update of the original baitrunners which were good solid reels with rubbish line lay. If they're as solid as the originals and the line lay is improved I'd be interested in taking a look at them.
  11. Hi Steve, any information you can share on pro clear? It's one I'm considering now Catana is discontinued, tackle box line tests have it as understated with the 0.29mm 12lb stated breaking at closer to 15lb.
  12. Interesting, they're the ones I was looking at when I made the mistake of buying Pro-Logic's a couple of years ago. Two of which no longer work and I can't even get their after sales to pick up the phone.
  13. Sorted my PM problem out now mate, I'll drop you a message.
  14. Hi Anthony, I reckon 0.26mm is too fine for Wingham. I wouldn't go less than 0.28 and higher in weed. You'd be far better off with 10lb Sensor. The 12lb Pro Clear at 0.29 also looks worth a try but I can't speak as someone who's used it. If you can find any remaining Shimano Catana in 10lb it's pretty much bomb proof.

  17. I had the same thing with a Super GTM 4000 last year, that part can be screwed on and off with fingers though so just used the cap off the spare spool for both.
  18. It's all over Facebook that Kev Green has passed away after a battle with cancer. Couple of other forums reporting it now, Brain Tumour apparently. Very sad, far too young - RIP.
  19. There's nothing wrong with the higher spec Okuma's. I've only ever heard minor gripes about them and have been using two different models for a number of years now without the issues I've had with other reels from supposedly superior manufacturers.
  20. I was fishing a club gravel pit at the weekend, lots of tench in my swim in the morning rolling. Not one took my bait though. Coincidentally there's a lot of snail activity in that lake at present, now where have I seen that before......
  21. I already have one of those Paul, I use it with a 3-4 season rated bag when cold or when its too hot for the bag. That looks promising Ian, are you doing that work party at the stillwater in Leyland next Sat?
  22. About £70 Andy. Thanks Rudd nut would prefer something with bedchair fixings.
  23. Can anyone recommend a good quality sleeping bag that won't break the bank please? Not bothered about the name and doesnt need to be five season rated, I don't do nights in winter.
