  1. no pics of cod but caught little stuff all day 5 dogs, pout whiting and an eel from the inside; some bloke caught two bass, 5&4lb. and i saw a 3 to 4lb codling caught; apparently a trigger fish was caught there on saturday, anyway i caught more than my mate and thats the main thing!
  2. anyone know how the breakwater is fishing lately me and my mate are going to have a go on wednesday: pics of huge cod to follow !
  3. I had some of that lsd back in the sixties man, anyway getting back to the subject, probably some idle pub chatter about the doggie massacre. Last time i fished dover breakwater last jan bloody freezing and caught one doggy all day, my mate got nothing I put the doggy back and gave my mate stick all the way home. save the doggies!
  4. maidstone mike; yes minster beach, had many whiting session down there. i have been to grain in the past and I agree it is a bit desolate, plenty of fish though. been down to allhallows in the summer caught bass every trip 3lb biggest. when the whiting show down there which is probably now it could be good. But I must agree about getting there, 20 miles which takes 45 mins, you could drive the 45 miles to dungie from here in that time. my main reason for fishing the estuary is the bass, one day i'll get that big one, good luck.
  5. maidstonemike, i live in maidstone and i find sheerness a nice place for whiting bashing, small bass and the odd nice one should still be about, try behind the ship to shore pub or the yacht club. when the whiting are in it is much better than bombing down to hythe, worm baits generally best, but my mate caught whiting down there using squid laced with some peppermint carp stuff, which we tried for a laugh. i had two doggies down there last year too
  6. has anyone actually caught a boot like you used to see in the comics?
  7. been fishing at allhallows twice this summer, three went of us both times. five eels and too many small bass first time, second time , six eels one 3lb bass , again loads of small bass, all eels were about a pound which were fun (If a bit messy). not exactly specimens but good fun!

    SOLE FISHING

i was fishing at sun pier last month when a bloke told me they had caught sole there at night, well he did seem an ok bloke, another mullet fisher came along later and also suggested sole had been caught , opposite sun pier at the medway city estate at night.
  9. if you mean the £9.99 box I agree some bits are weak. I don't know about now but a week ago someone was selling these on ebay the, last i looked one was up to £16!
  10. thanks for the advice, there were quite a few people tramping up and down.I went on a weekday thinking it would be quiet. thanks again
  11. I fished sun pier wednesday from low to high tide i used rag and peeler, only caught one small bass on peeler and was plagued by pout all day, me and a couple of others were mullet bashing for an hour or two around the high water but they didn't show,I think i will give it another go when the tide is high in the evening, this weekend.
  12. i am getting mullet fever but i will still give it a month or so,great to get first hand & up to date info such as sams
  13. I took my son down to sun pier a couple of sundays ago to try out some new spinners, there was one bloke there with his girlfriend. he was fishing she was sitting down, he had three cans of lager in about 40 mins when they got up and went, she was staggering and had a black eye,a fine example of fishing for my boy, not that i am averse to the odd drink. or is it just me
  14. hello kent i haven't caught a codling this year but i saw a nice couple at deal pier( mid december) I saw five or six two to five pounders on dover breakwater Late december,it must be three years since I had one but I am enjoying the resurgent winter bass so plenty of fun to be had.
  15. me and my mate are keen to have a go off a boat in the thames estuary. we have fished sheerness a couple of times this season and the blokes bringing their boats in seem to do pretty well. anyone know any medway based fishing boats?
  16. me and my son used a dropnet in the medway back in august,we had half a dozen bait sized crabs every time we brought it up. every 10-15 mins, also some good size shrimps, it was only for fun while we were fishing, can you not get peelers this way when the time is right? happy christmas by the way!
  17. have some christmas sympathy from me! i don't think i can remember a trip quite as bad as that. i broke my tilly glass one night out on cliffe marshes fishing the estuary god knows how we got back to the car. and of course we caught nothing.
  18. me and two mates went to sheerness by the yacht club last night,I caught a half pound bass and they got one minute pouting each, good job we had some jack daniels to ease the pain. some bloke walking his dog said there was a 17lb cod caught somewhere domn that way last week any got any info on it? reported in some local paper aparrentely.
  19. so if we don't hear from winter for a couple of days, send out a search party?
  20. winter, having a "tin bath"? or down our way having a "steffi graf", either way 50 quid won't go far these days, will get you most of a coleman dualfuel/northstar lamp, a very handy item.
  21. fished the tide down at sheerness last night tried indonesian prawns from sainsburys only caught whiting, also used squid & blowlug did get a couple on the prawns but jury still out. after gutting a few for the pan, i usually have a poke around to see what they have been feeding on,hardly anything inside, usually their stomachs stuffed with shrimp.
  22. couple of websites i looked at reckon that commercial fishing is becoming unviable,in the med last year they farmed 50,000 tons of bass and even more grey mullet, get rid of the trawlers and farm more fish!
  23. you can thread them on the other way use a fine hook which reduces damage to the worm,so the head goes on last, can be still alive after several casts, can only get those farmed rag at the moment, bit small but good bait.
  24. opening tackle box on the breakwater & out blows my sleeveless jacket thingy 20ft up in the air and gone, still the sun was out.hadn't even cast out.
  25. the bloke in my local shoptold me he had some soft shelled crab, which were imported for use in chinese restaraunts,he said people were coming back for more and they are out of stock at present anyone heard of, or used them?
