Sounds like a good fish to go hunting Budgie. I`d love to see an article. Where are you based? I`ve had a Tarpon off Islamorada and while I love fishing for them I am always open to new challenges

I went over to Kerio and it seems pretty good. Takes a while to custom the rules but then again what firewall doesn`t.

Budgie I must confess to never hearing about these fish before. Just put Alli Gar into Google........that is one mean looking SOB. Do they compare to Tarpon for scrapping?

I`m putting loads into the coffers for road repairs. First theres council tax which pays for most road repairs anyway (road tax only contributes a small amount). On top of that I pay for tax on a car and a bike which I can`t use at the same time so someone somewhere is getting a good deal out of me. They`ll be taxing us for walking on pavements next......

The reason we ride on the pavements is `cos the road is bloody dangerous. Cars try to overtake just as you`re about to pass a parked car forcing you to either stop or ram the back of the motor and feel that its fine to overtake and turn left all in 10yds. I`ve had more than my fair share of run ins with car drivers and while theres not too many ignorant ones it only takes one to have you in hospital. I ride a mountain bike, motorbike and car by the way (not all at the same time though!!)

I`m looking forward to doing this, theres disaster waiting to happen at every turn!!

I just couldn`t believe it was the great man himself . Back in `83 an article of Jims that appeared in the Anglers Mail changed my approach to fishing completely so I for one am indebted to the guy for unwittingly and unknowingly setting me on the path I now follow. Sorry if this has been up before!! Just wondering how everyone goes about preparing a decent paste. I can never seem to get two mixes the same. The last batch was a pack of good old Danish Blue and half a dozen slices of micro`d bread. I nearly bust my wrist kneading it all together, this stuff could have been used for building blocks! Now, while that would be fine for hair rigging I don`t hair for chub, an exposed hook has more chance of catching bottom debris when bouncing a bait round and it wrecks my confidence so I need a reasonably soft paste. So, how you guys go about it then??

I`ve got the `full size` Smartcast and find it great for feature finding. I don`t think you can really interpret the screen reading accurately, I use it for mapping depths etc and possible features. As soon as something looks good then the marker rod goes out to have a good feel round. Working both methods together saves on spooking areas with constant casting markers and is a lot quicker. I don`t think its any more of a shortcut than a marker is to going for a swim!!

Hi all !!!! Has anyone been on Larford at all in the last twelve months? We`re off down there come the nice weather of June but its been years since I was on the place and don`t know how much its changed as regards the pressure on the fish. When I used to fish there it wasn`t the hardest place to catch from!! Any help appreciated, thanks!

How`d you do that Argyll? I`m on BT and the spam filter cuts out 99% of the trash but theres one from `Elene` that has been appearing for months and its driving me nuts!!

I know of at least three cars and believe it or not a rail wagon in the Fens Pools in Dudley (they grow their kids big there!!)

It happens every week of the year guys but no one can touch kids any more. The local park by me has broken bottles scattered over the pathways every morning in the summer thanks to underage drinking. The phone box on the shopping precinct has its windows smashed within a week of them being replaced. We were all young once but I can never remember being that bad!!!
