  1. Small baitrunner type reel or a reel with a fighting drag mate.
  2. A similar product is made by Drennan. http://www.harrissportsmail.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=18883 Free postage from above. Steve
  3. If it is a bit smelly, try hanging it and spraying with Fabrize. This worked for my bag. My last bag was washed and the filing formed lumps across the bag.
  4. Try this link http://fishforcarp.com
  5. Go to a venue you are familiar with. Make sure you have everything to hand before it gets dark. Make sure you will be warm enough, might sound daft but clear nights get cold. Go with a mate at first. Dont watch the Blair Witch Project the night before.
  6. Budget tackle also seems to have got better in recent years. And good second hand tackle is always available, nothing better than a good bargin.
  7. Wht not just use pellets? Cheaper, less hassle, easy to vary and mix the free offerings and they stay on the hair long enough for me. Available from any angling outlet. Prebaiting done for you in a lot of waters. Perfect.
  8. I have fished with with long hairs for a while now, on at least one rod. I'm sure it makes a difference in tight baiting situations. I try to keep to small hooks if I can and fish the hairs about 2" long tied with supernova or mono but have more confidence in the braid. Hook hold holds are normally well in but I' ve had a few in the top lip!!
  9. Got to disagree on this one, try it on one rod and compare it in the water. It is a lot more visable in the water compared to Brown Sensor IMO and no better than clear sensor that is half the price. Casts OK though I'ved tried lots of line over the years but now stick with Sensor.
  10. Have always added redex and gently tapped the genny when its hot. This has kept mine working well for 5 years with a lot of use. Also dont forget to oil the pump.
  11. Thanks to all who have posted, lots of idea's to try. I am a cat lover but these 2 are taking the p1ss but I would never hurt them, I would just like to see my grass grow back.
  12. I have a patch on my lawn totally bare caused by 2 cats using it as a toilet. What should I use to stop this? Would prefer serious comments please Steve
  13. Many thanks for the replys. Ebay it is then. Steve
  14. Which closed face reel should I go for?
  15. It was taken from the point swim which has its own bay to the right and has access to lots of open water. Small bags to rolling fish, with small baits gave us lots of fish over the week. Everyone else seemed to be fishing over big beds of boilies with not much happening. Great place for a holiday but a little expensive.
  16. Not the best of pictures. My dad with a 23lb, from the point swim. Casting to showing fish in open water. We had a great weeks holiday there and would go again.
  17. Try using a short bit of an elastic band. It can be pulled into the bait to hide it.
  18. The problem is some people, for whatever reason, do not have this attitude and will fish on regardless.
  19. Poledark, I was not trying to insult you. I think you are taking my reply a bit personal, it was a general comment intended for all. Nice fish on your site, you obviously have a lot of experience. Just my thoughts and what has worked for me. I use 18lb line that breaks at around 22lb, not for its tow rope abilities but its abrasion qualities. I have found that 15lb is just not enough when fishing up to snags or in weed. Hook length is usually 25lb Stealth which has not failed me yet. Sometimes 15lb Snakebite which breaks before the mainline on a straight pull. Nash Fangs or Super Heavy’s in a 4 or 6. B175's in a 4 only. Lead on an adapted JRoberts run rig as described in Gravel Pit Carp. Rods are 2.75lb NGs. Yes, these are soft. My comments on areas I believe are valid. Some people will continue to cast or boat baits out to areas that are full of snags time and time again. No chance of getting a fish in. "Caught anything?" "No but I've lost 6 in the snags" Not fair on the fish and not really fishing. So your fishing in a snagy area and if the fish can run they could hit submerged trees, heavy pads etc surely common sense means fishing locked up with adequate tackle?
  20. Sorry mate but IMO you're wrong.Balanced tackle with experience works. Unless the area should not be fished in the first place...
  21. Tighten drag right up, use beefy tackle and sit on rods. When you get a run hit it and walk backwards if space allows. Then off with anti reverse switch and play with backwind if needed. Works for me.
  22. My homemade baits dont look like commercial baits at all, all different shapes and sizes with a different texture. Fish don't seem to mind at all. All you need to do is hook one fish and your confidence will soar.
  23. Just read this, makes interesting reading. http://www.fishingmagic.com/news/
