  1. just mention the word salmon to them and theyll come down like a ton of bricks on them, theyve spent an absolute fortune on a case here thats just come to trial now.
  2. what about paul young hes done one full episode on scottish shore angling, what more do you want
  3. colvend i think snatcher,i remember when that fish was caught,id just started back fishing.
  4. im going to sw scotland this weekend where the jumbo cod used to get caught,my mate had some good cod there and wants to try it again.
  5. arbroaths a fair trek from here but been up a couple of times for matches, only thing is theres no sea on every time i go up.
  6. rock fishing off the shores not too bad youve just got to be prepared to lose gear,35lb or stronger up to 50/60lb line , rotten bottom, lead lifts you can make these yourself personally i dont bother with them.cheapo traces mines just a loop at each end and a blood loop with a hooklength less than the mainline.then if you lose the lot its only a hook and weight, and the line you made the trace with.
  7. sounds like good stuff, anyone see henrys trip to the bristol channel and the shannon on his fishing on the edge, great stuff.
  8. i think its the second greys rod hes snapped kimik, ive heard of a few more going the same way as well.
  9. does anyone do much shore fishing up there i bet it fishes a treat, nice fish by the way what weight was it
  10. its amazing how quickly these things can happen ive been caught out once and it was a very ,very lucky escape, that was a low water mark snatcher just last week we had to get two lads out of the mud before a match with the tide flooding fast, putting not only themselves at risk but those who had to get them out,on a bigger tide they might have been in real trouble.

    Whiting Time.

i used to love bagging up on whiting but we havent had a decent showing of them for a while.
  12. a lad i know just snapped the tip on his nitra, brand new it was.
  13. if it was me itd be the conoflex what type of fishing do you do
  14. were getting all political again,i dont have a problem with these threads i usually read them but dont often post in them as i am not into it,but for those that are and enjoy it then fire away, these threads are usually the biggest so that should tell us something. all i was saying was if someone makes a good catch and wants to tell about it they should be able to without getting slated for it,either for killing fish or if their catch doesnt come up to other peoples standards,i like to hear whats caught around the country and the methods used.
  15. how about a catch report thread no flaming, bitching or whinging allowed.
  16. would anyone really begrudge a bit of compensation to the commercials to help them through a change in their industry which would benefit all,if farmers can get money for setaside and diversifying why not them.
  17. the berkley gulp white rag are good spun for pollack ian but theyre not very longlasting once a few fish have took them, give them a go on your boat.
  18. still waiting a bit of rain but nout much.
  19. a lovely autumnal day up in sunny cumbria, about 15mph wind ,perfect for fishing.
  20. another cock up on the weather front,it might not be where you live but the gales and heavy rain forecast havent materialised, what a surprise theyve got it wrong again. the worst of it is i was going to fish two or three times this week but due to the horrendous weather coming our way i took overtime so now its not here i cant fish anyways. but it is rather chilly so the coldest winter for years story might be true, yeh right.
  21. nice bag of fish autumn. ive got to agree i still think autumn/winters the best standing on those rock marks with a big sea pounding in,holding the rod waiting for the next bite, true heaven.
  22. thats the best idea ive heard for a long time stavey, any fish that does manage to get itself inshore then has to run the gauntlet of the inshore nets. salmon netters are few and far between now up my way and what are left are being hounded by defra.crab potters and shellfishermen would still be ok by me.
