    NEED HELP

Hi Anita, where does your Father in Law live? I am sure that there are members here who can offer assistance with boats etc who may live nearby.
  2. Schematics for Shimano TSM 11 FS are on page 5 of www.mikesreelrepair.com Hope this helps.
  3. Schematics are on- mikesreelrepair.com
  4. One happy angler and one lucky pollack, hope you catch it again next year John.
  5. Congratulations John, lovely fish and still swimming around the Mull, looks like you had a great weekend, again.
  6. Hi Snatcher,it was not me (Tom!) It was a lad from a local sea angling club that regularly go across in their own 10m boat. They fish off Port Logan and Portpatrick and stay overnight in Portpatrick. Appears that there are a lot of tope around at present. Still intending to get across and fish with you in a few weeks time. Have a good weekend's fishing with your guests.
  7. Hi Snatcher, If you catch one off Port Logan with rod and reel attached, unhook the tope and keep the tackle. Careless angler over from Bangor on Saturday lost the lot when helping his mate tail a tope about 40 lbs.
  8. Apply masking tape to both sections adjacent to the joints, should give a better grip.
  9. What a great experience John, gave the rod a real test. Are you sure it was not a great white shark as there are reports of them all over the place this summer?
  10. --> QUOTE(Norm B @ Jul 27 2007, 05:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If the rod has been built properly the tip rig will be stuck on with hot melt glue instead of epoxy. which will make it easier to remove. Hi muddler6, the epoxy which I was referring to is that which has been applied to the whippings on the rod guides to give the product a nice finish.
  11. Hi muddler6, I would replace all the guides with Fuji's. I know they are expensive and this is why they are not fitted to most rods. Quality comes at a price. Veal's Spring catalogue has pics. of Fuji boat rod guides, spinning and beachcaster guides. Forget the roller tip guide and fit a matching tip guide,it will look better anyhow. Most roller guides are unsuitable for braid as it gets caught between the roller and the guide frame. Agree with Ken L, use a lighter to soften the tip guide adhesive and good luck with removing the epoxy which can be very time consuming.
  12. Success at last! Have just taken delivery of these jig hooks from Stamina (www.staminainc.com) in the USA. Thanks to all the AN posters who offered me advice re obtaining these hooks.
  13. Hiya Newt, many thanks for your reply. Have tried both companies for these hooks. Do-It Molds say that a quality problem has arisen in China and they do not know if they shall receive any hooks from there again. They do not have any stock in my sizes. Jannsnetcraft have corresponded with me re shipping costs to the UK for these hooks but have yet to confirm whether or not they are in stock. Meanwhile I am waiting to hear from them. Someone must regret moving production from France to China! I shall post again later to let you know how my search progresses.
  14. Looking for a hundred 5/0 and 6/0 urgently. Have tried everywhere without success. Appears there is a quality problem with the manufacturer in China(surprise, surprise!)Never a problem when they were made in France. Anyhow if anyone out there has any surplus stock I am interested.
  15. Hi Commercial Licker. The sooner commercial fishermen are an endangered species the better. BTW this is an angling forum.
  16. Thanks for that Happy Dude. All his particulars are indeed on that site along with info on the Portpatrick area.
  17. Thanks Snatcher and dale. Plan to spend a long weekend on the MOG at the end of June. Shall arrange a weekend that suits you later.Be with the good lady, however a spot of fishing is on the list .
  18. Are there any charter boats operating from Portpatrick now?
  19. Snatcher who posts here should be able to advise you re bass and pollack flies. He appears to do OK with his patterns in Scotland. Try a PM to him.
  20. Thank you Norrie and les middy for your help and advice. Unfortunately it appears that this pattern of Fuji guide was discontinued years ago and is unobtainable. It looks like a complete guide replacemeni on these rods using a different Fuji guide.
  21. He's been targeting spurs, skate and ling off Galloway and the North Antrim coast recently and by all accounts has made heavy landings into both Troon and Oban. There are two of these longliners based in Grimbsy. An angling friend saw him in Troon today and said it was not a pretty sight. Has ruined one great skate area off N Ireland over the last couple of years although it appears that he is operating quite legally. Tope are on his list along with anything else that swims. Meanwhile we continue to blame the Spanish for plundering our fish stocks!
  22. I am renovating a couple of boat rods and need some Fuji CDHG chrome frame rings in sizes 12 and 16. Have tried everywhere for them without success. Tacklebargains have them in size 8 only. They are no longer in production.
  23. Great report and pics John. Hope to spend a long weekend there again soon with the good lady. Shall let you know when and perhaps we can go popping again. How time flies, its almost two years since I was last across.
  24. Try : manxshorefishing.com hope this helps.
  25. Hi Jack. Chart Datum is, basically the depth at low water spring tides ie the lowest tide you are ever likely to experience. Tidal heights shown on Tide Tables for say Plymouth are the heights of tide above the Plymouth chart datum. Hope this helps.
