  1. Polarised sunglasses are a permament feature in my tackle box throughout the year... even when not sunny, the reduction of 'glare' makes them worthwhile...
  2. Just found the following on the EA website: quote: Eligible disabled anglers will need to provide one of the following: 1. Current order book showing receipt of the appropriate benefit 2. A Giro payment slip showing receipt of the appropriate benefit 3. Last year's rod licence (2000/01) showing disabled concession plus an additional proof of identity 4. A letter from the War Pension Directorate confirming eligibility If you have any queries relating to the issue of rod fishing licences, you can contact our National Rod Licence Administration Centre on 01925 653 999. Hope this helps
  3. Hi Billy, I have just tried buying a licence on-line using your date of birth... GOOD NEWS!!! The website didn't like me trying to buy a full licence and prompted me to buy a junior one instead!!
  4. I've looked at the pictures????? Whats the fuss about? Frankly I see nothing wrong with the images and fortunately I don't imagine for a second the general public would either. The day the public decide that fish need to be treated like extremely delicate bone china will be the day the angling gets banned! We pull fish out of the water on the end of a hook.... so what? We unhook them and let them go again... I would be concerned if the fish were wrapped in a dry towel or maybe stood on, but these images.... in the words of my son and daughter... CHILL!!!
  5. I think the English should have their own parliament, seperate from the 'London' parliament that the rest of England currently has to put up with But where would we put it.... Birmingham ( The countries second city ) or maybe Manchester ( The countries second city ) or even Coventry (After all they have probably already got planning permission )

  7. Phone, Very true... its funny how clearing ones name becomes less important to people if they can't make any money doing it!!! Elton, Apologies for linking to the wrong site

  9. In my opinion this board appears to have gone Libel crazy recently... Perhaps we ought to acquaint ourselves with what libel is defined as being... Try reading the following Libel Information Pay attention to the bit about what constitutes a defense against libel... A defamation claim will fail if any of these elements are not met. The primary defenses to a defamation claim are that the statements are true, ARE STATEMENTS OF OPINION or otherwise not statements of fact, or are privileged

  13. Newt, I have a problem... I don't like killing fish! I have done it in the past, but I felt very uncomfortable and guilty doing it For that reason I would not personally use fish as a livebait. Its interesting the point you make about maggots and worms also being livebait. The majority of my fishing is done using either worms (including bloodworm & joker)or maggots (including casters, pinkies and squatts). If I am honest, I cringe a little when it comes to using chopped worms, but again, I do use them when conditions are right. As to whether I would use livebait (fish)... no, I don't think I would... after all, on many occasions, the average size of the bait would be bigger than the fish I usually catch in the first place!

  15. Chesters, Your point about pike. I am not sure what your getting at... yes I have had pike attack the net many times... by the same token I have seen the water 'erupt' many times as fish try to avoid a charging pike... BUT the fish in my net don't get eaten...I have never had a pike actually manage to eat its way through the net.

  17. Chesters, On waters where large nets of fish can be expected in a match I would certainly support multiple weigh in's. In fact, this happens exactly as you suggest, every hour, in at least one competition I can think of. As for the majority of catches in the majority of matches, I would be surprised if the average weight of fish was over 10lbs...

  19. Newt, Newt the reports are absolutely right, keepnets when used properly do no harm to the fish at all. In fact, in my opinion, a fish is probably better off in a net than being released into what is a very dangerous and violent fishy environment! Fish when kept in a net have a chance to fully recover from the fight before being released. After all, if you were to fully submerge a keepnet into a fishery I'll wager that many fish would voluntarily seek refuge inside of it!!! I've been away from this site for a while and now I'm back I can't help wondering whats going on. This site has always had a bias towards specialists of one sort or another, who have no use for a keepnet, but of late I feel that the use of keepnets and match anglers are being villified by various posts on here.... maybe its time for me to find a different site? The very terminoligy used such as 'the net is dragged up the bank' is immotive... I have never seen a net 'dragged' anywhere... after all, it would damage the net! There will always be idiots who give every aspect of angling a bad press. In my view the answer is to ban the idiots, not the practice they are ineptly carrying out. It annoys me sometimes the way some people go on about fish welfare as if the fish were made of bone china and will break if you so much as look at it in the wrong way. Fish are a hardy animal... they have to be, they live in a vile harsh environment where they incur damage and injury regularly. Do they care? In my opinion they don't even know! Finally... and I'm sorry if i'm straying away from your original point... anglers should not be arguing for a ban to any aspect of our sport... This is the third time I have said this tonight!!! I don't like 'livebaiting'... I think it is a vile practice.. my answer... I DON'T DO IT... simple. But would I ban it.... never. I would fight to protect the rights and freedoms enjoyed by ALL anglers regardless of my personal opinion of the individual practices.

  23. Elton, I appear to have lost the ability to view the forums in a frame... is this intentional? Both the links from your home page now open a new window... or is this just me?
