  1. As my original thread has been hijacked by our colonial friends ;) I'll try again with a separate thread Rec'd a request from an Irish lady friend today, can anyone help please Hi Colin– having start up problems on my Vista computer – wondered if you’d heard anything about it? Once I manage you get it going it works fine but have to power off once or twice before it boots up properly. Ann After passing on a few ideas to my friend I received this today: Talking of which – I had been looking at the disks that came with the desktop – and they are what I’d based by computer info on – I’d not simply gone to the screen and looked to see what was running – lord knows why . . . Anyway – the upshot is that the computer says its running on – Windows Vista Business Version 6 Service Pack 2 32 bit!!!!!!!!! BUT - the disks that came with the set up are – Operating system – Twinload CD/DVD Microsoft windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 Drivers & Utilities Esprimo Support for Windows 2000 and XP 32 bit/64 bit Operating system – Recovery DVD Windows Vista Business All are Fujitsu Siemens supplied. Don’t quite know what to do now. I’d got the desktop from the bloke in Westport car park [this actually a shop] but ages ago. Ann Anyone care to advise? Colin

  5. Well I once won a competition within the industry that asked the question whether to lower or increase pressures for better traction. The answer was to increase the pressure as this would open up more tread/grooves/sipes and thus provide better grip. It seems most off-roaders get by using lower pressures. On our roads doing this could result in PC Plod pulling you over for having under inflated tyres. It's probably [well it is certain really] that matching your driving to the conditions is the answer. If you can't do that, stay at home. All I can say is I'm pleased I'm out of it now. It's dirty, wet, cold horrible job and I was the boss? I got out when I couldn't match or outwork my fitters.
  6. Low profile tyres have less sidewall movement so bumpier ride! Judy hang to those winter tyres, you will benefit from them believe me. It's good that you are thinking tyres as they are cheap when compared to your life. I could tell you all some real horror stories about tyres and their misuse by mainly car drivers. Winter tyres do make a difference! Colin, 37 years a tyre man!! ;)
  7. I've just spotted this post and have retrieved my depth chart of Rutland It's now available at here

  9. So was a mate of mine, so much so he was electrocuted!!!! and on his wedding anniversary that was also his widowed wife's birthday. It pays not to be standing in water with the power switched on and your hand in the washer!!
  10. Hang on a bit, you've got Halloween to deal with first!! Tesco along with the other supermarkets will be pushing that one!! And it's not even a British event/celebration!! Must be something to do with money and profit??
  11. Thanks everyone for the replies. There seems to be several variations of these translations so I've gone with some images instead of text. What do you think??

  14. Health & Safety requirement!!
  15. "Marine Harvest (Scotland) Limited," I doubt you would really want to work for this company!! Not if you care about the environment. Try Googling Marine Harvest and the pollution problems they have caused worldwide or have a word with Bruce Sandison!
  16. Going?? They've gone!! It is a shame because as you say great service and great prices! Probably the prices were too good for their own good???
  17. I have a D90 plus several lenses purchased later and I'm extremely happy with the set up. That said there always seems to be more Canon gear on the s/h market and it always seems to be much cheaper than the equivalent Nikon stuff, so going Canon seems to be the way to go if costs are foremost. I find Jessops are always a bit dearer than most places but buying local can be an advantage if you hit problems. I bought Camera and lenses from Camerabox who are now in receivership so my 5 year warranties are now worthless. So buyer beware!
  18. Waterbeach Angling Club celebrates it's 75th anniversary this year!! Originally based on the Cam at Waterbeach in an effort to retain local waters for local anglers! The Cam is still a feature of the club but has since purchased it's own lake complex in the nearby village of Landbeach just north of Cambridge. Check out our website for the latest news from our Lake complex and also the River Cam at Waterbeach. Visit our Website
  19. I wonder who drew the short straw when it was time to cut it free??
  20. can, it seems, be accomplished by using "expat shield" software! Just in case anyone is interested! Newt/Jan for example.
  21. It does make me wonder what the parent/s say when little Delroy walks in with a brand new 42" plasma?
  22. I don't normally reply to posts such as this one, but what's happening out there is just down to the chance to create mayhem, loot, steal and vandalise. Uneducated because they choose to be, not working cause they were paid by the previous government not to, so as to get more votes and stay in power. There were lots of things I was unhappy about when I was a kid, but I didn't go out looting and vandalising the neighbourhood. Some kid was saying the police and society don't respect us!! Well in my eyes respect needs to be earned!!
