elliot,Iv'e just had a Penn Groundcaster rod 14.25ft rerung with new Fugi rings (11 I think) it only cost £40 for a first class job,so if your rings are o.k it will cost you a lot less, Iv'e done my own before and it's not worth the hassle, check your tackle shops for their rod builder. fishy1
  2. mousey, get a CT CAGE from an Abu repair shop, then all you have to do is strip the 6500 and rebuild on the CT cage (kids play)if you can't get on with it, just change it back to the level line cage. once you do a conversion your stuck with it and if you make a b**ls of it, good by reel tight lines fishy1

    fixed spool

elliot,I've had three trips out with a Shimano Nexave 6000F, 4 bearings 2 spools and it has a good line lay(important for spinning) takes 300yds of 10lb then pro-rata down to 120yds of 20lb performance has been good, I've used worse and it only cost £40.I've just loaded the alloy spool with 10lb backing line and topped off with 150yds of braid for a trial on holiday next week tight lines fishy1
  4. I dry terminal tackle before I unclip it from my main line and re-use till first sign of rust on hooks, checked when sharpening, (they rust quickest)check all mono if OK I'll use 3 or 4 times then scrap tight lines fishy1
  5. Just loaded two spinning reels with braid, mine and the wife's, thought we'd give it a try this coming fourtnight, normaly use 6-8-or 10lb mono depending on what we are fishing for, might save having to change spools fishy1
  6. spasor, I use the finger off the wife's washing up gloves and a smooth cast no probs m8
  7. 405,I use "Whiplash" braid on a fixspool reel for beach fishing, and no shockleader and I wouldn't go back to mono, the "rush" from bites is magic if you keep the rod in your hands and you can feel "ANY" fish caught fighting all the way to the beach.I don't use it on my multiplyers as I think it may bed down to tight on the spool for casting, I could be wrong but it's what I think. tight lines, fishy1
  8. on tuesday or wednesday caught the end of a tv program about fishermen dumping hundreds of monk-fish, it was a sickening sight, and they were complaining they were not allowed to land them because of quotas. seems mad to me, fishy1
  9. Gray-Catchpole,hope you don't mind, just like to say happy birthday, because we leo's of the 20th need to stick to-gether
  10. Alan, I agree ask the lady to name the "Sicko" they want taking out of circulation, I've two grown-up daughters who use their PC's to surf the net, if it happened to them I'd be climbing the wall with anger.so yes name who ever it was,and to Judy, just like to say sorry about this bother lass but please give us a name otherwise other lady members may get E-mails. Jock
  11. as you are not power casting try laying hook on crab's back and wind an elastic band round both, or use bait elastic., don't remove crab legs
