  1. thanks for all your replys
  2. id like to start a post and if everyone could leave a comment id much appreaciate it just to gauge some outlooks on what a speciman carp really is. i personally would say a true speciman carp would be a carp of 20lb+ maybe im setting my sights a little high but fellas let me know what you concider a speciman cheers guys.
  3. title says it all i live in newcastle and would love a chance to get at some good barbel but were do i go?
  4. got out fishing today up little big waters (newcastle) didnt catch a thing one bite when i had set up and then not a thing for the rest of the day. but it was nice to get out again and nice to see the place had been raked and sorted roll on spring looks like we will all just have to go mad to make up for the winter
  5. i must say my friend baught the 1000ra exage and he swears buy it after looking over the reel it does feel and look like a quality reel im toying with the idea of getting one now but if for some reason you cant get one source a okuma amazonium 30 you should find one for £25 ish and for the money you get 2 spare spools a cnc machined handle and a spare double handle yes thats right another handle its worth the money ive had mine for just over 18 months and it is still as smooth and reliable as the day i baught it a real good reel at a real good price
  6. im lucky the club waters i fish are allways clean and i feel very lucky because of this but when i do go to commerciels and the place is a tip there is only so much you can do before your days fishing is turnd into a volenteer day. hounestly some of the places are so filthy the there in danger of being mistaken for landfills
  7. just to jump in on this i wanted to say im really impressed with the generosity of the people on this boared they are a good sort and nice people glad to see asbo's arnt taking over the world
  8. hope this helps i think this is what your looking for here
  9. i know people say we shouldnt have to pay it and fair enough its the wrong thing to put tax onto but hey compared to things like golf £24 a year is peanuts to fish id pay that any day to enjoy the past time for a year there isnt much you can find cheaper. id like to fish for free but £24 is about the closest we are gonna get and we aint hard done by so to not pay and "hope for the best" is stupid its a small price to pay and as most people know the one time you dont pay is the one time you will get caught and they will make more off of what they confiscatein tackle than the £24 you should of paid so JUST PAY its worth it.
  10. just came across this on ebay not sure what its like so if any one has any ideas please let me know
  11. hmm thanks man you just saved me a hell of a lot of legwork it looks like a real nice rod and the classic being 1.5tc just seals the deal. "edit: 2 piece ;("

  13. thanks alot lads this helps me out. im glad you said 1½lb tc as i would have gona lighter just glad to know the rod will do for what i need now just to start shopping im on a tight budget so im looking to spend about £50-£60 any ideas or links? the reel im choosing is a okuma epix pro epb30 baitfeeder as i have the rear drag amazonium am30 by okuma and i really cant fault it atall i love okumas as long as they are atleast the mid priced ones anything lower seems a bit tacky but then for £15 you can expect to much. so in all im looking to spend about £100 on a rod and reel
  14. i try to stay as light as possible cant do with carrying all that stuff to catch fish for me its my seat my rod and a small tackle box i carry
  15. Ok this has proberbly been baught up a few time in some shape or form but i know you guys can help so i aint shy to ask. im buying a new rod in a week or two and i whant light tackle that can do me for most situations as i plan on leaving the carp rod at home and id love to know your views on things. Im planning to pair this with a 30 sized baitfeeder reel for situations like carp form 5lb to around possibly 20lb, chub and tench, and also barbel from time to time i hope. I use a standerd 30 size reel at the moment and this has done me comfortably for carp to a size of 13lb so im ok with the reel ive been looking around and to try and keep things light i was either thinking of a twin tip barbel rod (standerd tip and a tip to accept quiver tips) a heavy feeder with light to heavy tips or a carp feeder rod all in 3 piece not sure if those two last ones constitute the same type of rod though. I plan on making an avon rod closer to the coming christmas to aid me next year but need a new rod now. im young but enjoy the fight and love playing the fish so im not like yobs who opt for power to rip the fish to the bank so a soft rod isnt a problem most of my fishing has been done with a match rod and accounts for most of my carp. like i say i preffer light tackle and whant the rod to reflect that what are your ideas?
