  2. Hi there. Just moved to suffolk from the channel islands and am looking to get back into coarse fishing. Looking for a good tackle shop in beccles/bungay/halesworth kinda area to stock me up and give me advice etc also to get hold of licences etc i know there is one in beccles somewhere, but i couldnt find it and when i phoned them they couldnt tell me where the shop was......?!! Its on an buisness estate somewhere, but i drove round and round and couldnt find it and the guy in the shop (on the phone) said 'sorry your asking the wrong person'........errr........??!! how do they get to work each day?!!!! anyway cant be that good if they cant help me find it, so not getting my buisness!! anyone know of any other shops that can help me!! thanks
  3. true, but as i have said these are not secret venues, all i did was google a few places and read a few books! any tom dick or jane could do the same!!
  4. are people really secretive about this kinda stuff?! ive put together a fairly good list of fisheries in suffolk and norfolk just by using info on the net, searching etc. all faily pulic info!! and i dont even live there yet! (im moving to suffolk in a few months!!)
  5. ok ive started to write my own fishing POI starting with fisheries in norfolk and suffolk. mostly day-ticket, but also private club lakes as well. its not complete by any means. what im looking for is someone who is prepared to let me email it to them so i can find out if it is working!! i dont want to spend hours doing it only to find it only works on my tomtom! pm me if you have got 5mins to spare to let me know if it works on your satnav? thanks
  6. can anyone pm me the contact details for ladywood. im moving into the area from the channel islands in the summer and looking for places to fish in suffolk. thanks
  7. wondering if anyone has made/found a satnav POI that shows fishing marks? either fresh or saltwater? be interested if anyone has? cheers
  8. now hang on......i remember sash windows! just wasnt clear when we were talking about crab pots what a sash weight was!! my brain doesnt go from crab pots to wooden windows in one leap!!!
  9. sorry for my ignorance what is a sash weight?! i think we can get non-floating rope here so i can use that maybe.
  10. so how does one go about laying pots? what do you use to weigh them down?
  11. thanks for that. can you sink and draw when you have to cast out a few meters? wont it just pull back and forth ?
  12. Is this possible/viable for mackerel? ive feathered from a boat plenty, but unsure what kinda rig would work from the shore?? feathers under a float?? any advise would help!
  13. ive sen 2 types now. both oregon.small orange and grey ones with funny styled ariel and a darker/black one with orange/yellow buttons. which are the ones people have tried??
  14. ...i c-tug it everwhere on this site!! popular hey?!! anyway ive just had mine delivered today. just wondering, those people who have already used theirs, how flat/apart do you take it to stow it? once together i presume the center sections dont come apart easily? or am i being thick??
  15. sorry been away for a few days. yeah it folds as flat as the roof rack. you still have to have roofrack obviously but that thing just claps onto bars and then can rotate and lock 90 degrees. up or flat. I think we still have them somewhere and i dont use them now if you wanna try them 2nd hand for a few bob? you need roof rack already though.
  16. ill have a look at them then. its not for saftey really, just for contact on the water. while im drifting and plugging round the reefs here in guernsey, my wife likes to paddle off!! (better than her scaring off the fish of course!) and dont wanna have to shout to her and spook fish. plus she often paddles on a bit and keeps her eyes open for bass (or anything else!) means she can let me know when she sees some and im still plugging away at an area with no fish in (as usual!!)
  17. can anyone recommend a good waterproof 2way radio type thing for using yaking?
  18. greetings from guernsey! i used the soft racks for about a week! then realised they are a pain in the bum for more than an occasional use! Rather that j craddle thing you can use staight bar or a hoop like this which folds flat when not being used. i used that type for a year or so and its really good. esp for one or more yaks. the other thing ive now got is a YAKIMA rack. which is a great roofrack system generally, but you have to order it from the USA. have a look at www.rei.com i have mine on a subaru impreza and its a great fit. failing that as already said you can just have it upside down on padded bars. but thats not so good if you wanna transport it rigged up already.
  19. Hi guys. ive not been on here for a while. good to be back in action. anyway im looking for something that might enable me to trolley 2 kays at once. i know there doesnt seem to be one on the market, but im wondering if the straps with the c-tug are long? i want to be able to stack 2 yaks (frenzys). is the c-tug the toughest weight wise?
  20. what about people who fish from kayaks? Im totaly against these blanket statements made by some people saying that all canoeists are trouble makers. Its like everything in life 2 sides. Dont tell me you guys have never had an encounter with a rude/awkward angler who has total disrespect for fellow anglers and posibly worse total lack of repect for fish?! I certainly have when fishing. As someone who both fishes sea and course AND as someone who enjoys kayaking i feel both sides of this debate. I really do think there has to be some sort of compromise. Id love to be able to fish some more private and secluded waterways from my kayak, but i know i would do so with utmost respect for other anglers be they from the shore or kayak. But i agree a free opening of waterways could allow swathes of peviously quiet areas to be ruined.
  21. ......what a load of...... If i catch them and they are big enough to eat and i dont have any yet then ill eat 'em. Yum Yum Great catch AB. How did you cook them?! Give us your recipe it might scare off the fish bashers!!!
  22. Nice work Tacks! Love the idea of a rock pool as a keep net!! never thought of it myself, something im deffinately gonna do if i can! what size pool do you use? are the fish easy to get out of the pool afterwards?
  23. Roll on a bigger size limit for the bass. Thats whats coming i think...isnt it?
