  3. Since no one has answered this one I'll have a crack Two schools of thought basic buoyancy aid no frills or the all bells and whistles type that you have loads of pockets to put all your fishing odds and sods in, now the last one sounds great until your in the water trying to get back into your kayak after a capsize and everything in your pockets is now catching on your kayak !!! I have the no frills one all it has is a D ring for my VHF radio. One thing to look for don't have one that is too long in the back mine is only 14 inches long in the back it does not catch on the back of the kayak seat. Hope this helps, no doubt someone will come along and give there 2 pence worth

    Waders

The way I think is this how much are you going to spend on your waders, dry trousers ect compared with the cost of a dry suit that we all know does the job better and in a capsize in winter could save your life. Most if not all of dry trousers and tops are more suited to sit inside kayaks with a spray deck/skirt, but for us we have to take all of the weather like it or not. As for dry trousers this is what I do using a wetsuit and boots with no zip, put on the wetsuit trousers and tuck the boots inside, make up a Velcro strap and put is round your ankle make sure it is really tight to make a good seal, once launched release the strap you will have no wet feet and will keep you warm,I use this set-up when the water temperature is not too cold I know it is a big out lay buying a drysuit, but well worth it in the long run.
  10. We've not deaf so why are you SHOUTING

  15. what about nylon pad eyes for the line clips like these http://www.kayakproshop.com/COD_NylonEye.html "i would prefer plastic pulleys and plastic carabiner" ....Why plastic???

  17. My Garmin el-cheapo model has been in the water when I capsized but it still worked, the only thing I have found is the plug in connection can/will corroded due to the salt water and 12 volts of the battery to stop this put plenty of silicon grease on and all will be well, if you want to go one better cover the joint with a finger off a rubber glove
  18. the after sale service from Garmin is second to none both in GPS and fishfinders
  19. Looking very good there Richie
  20. I have drawn up some plans to build my own it's not rocket science and should only cost 50 squid all made out of aluminium
