    Trolleys

I've just ordered the C-tug too, shipping today. I too was looking for strong trolley that I could just use and not worry about its load bearing capacities. I dont tend to load all my gear onto the yak when transporting from the car to the water, I tend to make another walk back to the car for the rest. Even then if I did, the c-tug covers my loadout easily.
  2. thats an idea I may remember if it all goes pear shaped with the missus.
  3. Blimey they aint cheap are they, I am thinking of getting a nice new one to replace the one I made. Try here, scroll to the bottom of the page... http://www.roho.co.uk/acatalog/Robin_Hood_...sories_449.html
  4. I can see much wisdom in your words lads, particularly the mention of the one thing that keeps me going in this life.... peace. Cant do without it, and the solitude to boot. wondered if anyone has had a go at Pembrey, any tips welcome.
  5. Well played lads, cant wait to get some of the same experiences myself. Looking forward to seeing the images of those monsters!!
  6. .... to Pembrey beach on sunday, as the weather is supposed to be very nice. She wants to burn some skin and I want to have some fun on the tarpon. But, I'm thinking that this will be a good opportunity to try and get her out on the water, no fishing, just playing about. Two questions, have any of you guys tried to get the other half interested in our crazy obsession? Anyone actually succeeded in altering their opinion that we are martians? and is there any point in me bringing rod along just in case the missus is uncooperative.
  7. The S12 comes with a headphone/speaker socket of the 'jack' type only its smaller than the usual 2.5mm that I'm used to using, anyone know where I can get a converter or is it a proprietary type only used by silva? thanks in advance.
  8. Meeting some of you 'old hats'(no offence) at Kayak fishing is highest on my 'to do list' So I am well up for any meets that I can get too. I'm going on the annual skin burning trip with the missus to Cyprus from july 2nd, but would, or rather chancellor willing, be able to get to west wales easy enough around sept or nov. ps... great idea SDD. Its a shame there are not enough of us to start some sort of regional 'kayak fishing clubs'
  9. I just bunked off work to go and get two of those beauties... they will be perfect for when I'm washing the yak down after being salt watered.... although I chose the navy ones to go with my legwarmers..:¬) Danke
  10. Cheers SDD, I'm even more happy now.
  11. Thanks for that, I'm happier now I know I can get another battery. Warranty would be voided if I do it myself, but I dont mind that. cheers
  12. Its a handheld VHF radio, hope I dont ever have to use it.
  13. So I ordered this bit of kit and it turned up today. Flicking through the manual it says to expect around 300 recharges? that sounds rather poor to me, or am I getting senile. Where would one get a replacement battery anyway, theres screws to acces the guts of it, but its also half covered in rubber (oo er missus), dont know if its user serviceable.
  14. Hey lads, not sure if you have seen this or even if its worth getting even as just a depth finder. I have not had a chance to get over to the local store to check them out, my mate told me about them. Tried to check their webpage for an image and more details, but cant seem to locate any. They have a whole lot of other fishing stuff too, again, not sure of the quality. Portable sonar fish finder with monitor; Ideal for boat fishing; Locates fish in 0.8m – 24m depth; Operational temperature: - 10°C to +50°C ...
  15. @ Starvinmarvin. Thanks for the info. I was thinking of maybe doing a little trip around the Tenby area, not much further to go to saundersfoot. The other member here thats based in swansea, does he still post here? thanks again.
  16. Ah well, thanks for the replies lads. I was willing to drive a ways providing the missus could be talked around, but it seems I'm going to have to bite the bullet. Do or die so to speak. If anyone does find themselves in my area please feel free to let me know before hand, and if its okay for me to tag along. Cheers
  17. I was hoping to hook up(sorry for the pun) with any yakers in my area. I'm very keen to get going now the weathers getting better. Doesnt have to be a fishing trip, willing to take a nice expedition so to speak. I'm new to the game and need some experience on the open water. All I managed to do last year was some estuary paddling, getting used to the yak ect. kennosen@gmail.com
  18. I too collected my Tarpon 140 on tuesday.. went out on the estuary for about 5 hours straight.... wish I'd bought one years ago. Wont attempt to snare any fish untill I've mastered the yak a lot more... happy days.
  19. Even though I'm only picking up my Wilderness systems Tarpon 140 Angler tomorrow.. I thought I post where from... Whitewater Consultancy Ltd @ www.wwc.co.uk/ in Wales. They are primarliy a canoe and kayak supplier and have a huge range in their industrial sized shop, plus a load of related gear. Great bunch of blokes and very helpfull.
  20. surely thats cruel About the possibility of nasty additives, be they man made or not, in fish caught on an estuary... is it 'a given' that 'all' fish are unsafe and it's not recommended to eat them on a regular basis?
  21. Oh right. Is that because the powers that be are trying to boost the population of certain species? or some ancient medieval law that states that the queen owns them and us lesser mortals are not deemed fit to touch them
  22. Thanks lads, for your replies. I've been driving the missus mad with my antics, its all alien to her, I might as well be going to the moon. The info will help her understand why I'm going to do it. I'm picking us the yak on tuesday and hopefully I'll be out on the same day. With regards to loughor, from where I live, I would only have to pull the yak 200 yards to the high water line( I've already made a cart for it) So at first I'll probably be going up stream to where the river loughor widens, and has some flat, wide water to practice. I have another question, which may amuse, do I need a licence to fish the estuary and coastal waters?
  23. Thanks for that Hake, cheers. just what the doctor ordered. I have a question that some of you guys can probably answer, is there anything thats possible to catch that would make me ill if I ate it? I'll eventually be going out on the yak about a mile or so.
