  1. Very Disappointing picture that and a despicable act that in no way constitutes sport good old america and their catch & kill policy
  2. go for as light as you can afford---I think Carlisle are doing full carbons for around £150 at the moment and they are real nice
  3. yes, that was my ugly mug! and my mate Phooey(known in the U.S.A. as Nicholas Cage They are £669 for non-angler and £699 for angler
  4. It sounds it! I blanked on the other hand--but still had an incredible day
  5. Rigged my p13 sail on the Trident today.I've done away with the PA cleats and added two to the gunnels of the yak after an idea given to me from Snapper. It works really well. Was meant to go Congering this weekend but it fell through so launched at Keyhaven at 11am and paddled out to Hurst Point then put the sail up and sat on my behind doing 7-8mph all the way to the Needles without another paddle stroke Stopped for lunch at Scratchells Bay took a pic of the cleat system And couldn't help this one : Fished the usual spots and did not catch a thing!Had the usual fun listening to Ron from Private Venture on the VHF (no bars of silver this week but a "channel"!)The Charters had a bad day too but I bet they didn't have as much fun as I did! Found a few bouys right in the middle of the Solent that I fished to no avail on the way back, the tide was running quite fast and the bouy was submerging but had no problems What a great day
  6. they are just tackle tarts ,just like me
  7. On the barges I can not comment as I'm not sure which kayak or manufacturer you are talking about But on the Florida team, yes you are right they are all using the p13s in the old photo but have since upgraded to something that glides better, has more storage and is easier to rig
  8. No "we" haven't Nifty, but then "we" haven't got the name of the designers of our car,our washing machine our kids bikes or anything---it is an outrage!!!!!!!!!!!!! Luckily for us though,Ocean Kayaks look at the forums and any ideas that are deemed worthy----especially from people that have actually fished from the yak,get passed on to the design team
  9. You want it in a fixed position on your vest so it is easy to grab in an emergency My pouch comes with a clip at the rear and there is a place on my PFD in front of the left pocket to attach the clip.I have also added a cable tie for good measure.(not that it will stop me losing them!!! )
  10. I totally disagree Backslapping yes,but there has been no cuddling to my knowledge We'll leave that to the boys that can touch their toes
  11. Good Lesson learnt Don't worry, most of us have learned the same lesson too
  12. I have paddled both and have to say that I preferred the Trident, that is not to say that the P45 elite isn't a great yak and as you say---very well thought out. Ocean Kayaks have put a lot of thought(and no doubt money!) into making the Trident a serious fishing vessel and the fact that they had top kayakfishermen involved in the design is obvious for all to see. Fishing kayaks are developing so quickly and comprehensively now(especially in O.K.s case)that a year old model like the P45 Elite looks dated against the mod cons provided with the Trident and now that O.K. have enlisted the help of Experienced yakfishermen, the future is certainly looking rosy go on, get a Trident---you know you want to!
  13. Now you've gone and done it! he'll probably end up in Christchurch N.Z. next year
  14. Of course not! the car would sink you idiot!
  15. Aren't you coming next year then? I'm off down there tonight----just finished rigging the FF/GPS and Scottys pics tomorrow!
  16. that is exactly what I'll be using tomorrow for a v.similar task be careful -it sticks to everything! richi

how much did the lodge cost you ,about 50p?
  18. or put on with well nuts
  19. It is 291 that you need,be sure to rough up the hull a bit first!
  20. Brilliant review Mark and I look forward to hearing the next instalments. may I just say that when I first paddled the Trident,It didn't impress me half as much as it did after a week paddling it.At the end of the week(probably around 40 miles) you would have needed a crowbar to get me out of it(and GB) Hope yours grows on you like mine has. Can't wait to get the FF/GPS in and the Scottys ready for the codding season Must say from my point of view that it is the right tool for what I do BTW great job on the SM photo as you can all see he fits in the rod pod

    Conger Bash

On Sunday it was demo time again.Among the demo-ists were 5 lads from poingdestres fishing tackle who even managed to catch a few fish between them! One of the lads was in his first ever kayak but was looking a real pro ferry gliding across the mudeford run and coaching the other lads after his 2 hour demo.(no surprise that he went out at the weekend in his own shiny new p13) was talking yaks, guiding and coaching demos and dealing with the public all day as the wind got increasingly stronger---so much so that we decided to abandon Sunday's Conger Hunt and get an early night. Monday we had Baz from Crazy Water and his mate come for a demo fish.Rigged Baz up with a rod and paddled out with them to assist in the bouying up procedure, after a couple of hours they were back at the Blackhouse and both had caught their own dinner!More smiling faces! I managed to get out for a while in the day to supplement the bait collection with 15 fresh mackie Monday also saw the arrival of Egbert,GB and S2vto. What a sunset it was Egbert made his arrival with class by landing a 8 1/2lb Bass on his first night which was caught while moored to the same Extremekayakfishing bouy that Phooey had his monster Conger from the first night. Phooey also had an estimated 20lb Conger and I had two Conger on but lost them both due to over-eagerness(normally I'm half asleep when I fish for them) Teusday we had a bash in the day with Phooey and Egbert catching Bream for dinner and having great fun with the gars while GB S2vto and myself concentrated on mackie bashing for bait.It was pretty hard going and we were only getting 1s and 2s.We managed about 20 in total. GB testing the rod pod Egbert returning from the day session Teusday night Phooey caught another Conger(bloody phooey!)and we had a floodlit photo session!Resulting in the smaller picture in Phooeys post Wednesday went for a mackie bash as the bait situation was getting low.Managed 35 in 2 1/2 hours fishing Wednesday night round to Pout hole again where Martin had a 7 1/2lb Bass from the same bouy and 2 Conger runs.Phooey also had a 4lber the view on the way to the evenings fishing Thursday we all went to the Ledge where nothing of significance was caught although GB had a Tope run near the ledge marker bouy. The Waverley GB at the Ledge
  22. rigged an anchor trolley,my coolbox straps and the flush mount rod holders yesterday, took these pics today when I went to change the bouys at Pout hole managed a pout or 2 a bream or 2 and a blenny! will update this as I go---------FF/GPS and Scottys next will post a kayak review in the next few days
  23. Arrived at Mudeford quay at 10am Sat 1st.Marc J and Nifty were there, having driven down the day before. It was great to hear their tales of mackerel and scad jumping round their feet at Avon Beach the night before. After a chat I rigged up for a 11am launch to set up the first of our mark bouys at pout hole.Returned to the quay at noon as the demo yaks from Crazy Water were due to arrive. They finally arrived around 2.30pm and we had people waiting to take them for demos immediately, from what I've heard we should have some new members very soon.In fact 4 of the demo-ists are already p13 owners :DAfter an afternoon of chatting,demo-ing and moving in to the Blackhouse we all readied ourselves for the evening's launch. For Saturday evening's trip there were 13 yakkers including: Codshead Essexcaper Overrun Kayakkarma SpeciMan Starvinmarvin Marc J Nifty Tratty Paintfly Myself Phooey and Darnsarf who had kindly acted as demo guides first Conger at 2045 to me,what a way to christen the new Trident---first fish caught from a Trident in the U.K. second Conger came at 2055 to Phooey and it was an almost half hour battle to bring this beautiful specimen to the yak after 4 attempts(one time Phooey went to grab it in the gills and it went ballistic!)he managed to get it into the yak and across his lap that was some fat eel,a great catch and hats off to Phooey not only for having the guts but the arm strength too! There were some Bass caught too on Sat will write some more tomorrow must say it was great to meet up with old and new friends-I'm sure I'll be fishing again with all the gents that I met for the first time over the course of the week
  24. must admit Les it was hard work even with de-barbed hooks
