  1. Yep, living on the memory now though!!!!! seems like ages ago now and had 3 or 4 blank 24hr sessions sinnce laying that beauty on the mat. Should be grateful though, it's my first year on the lake and although I've only had two fish I have managed to achieve my target of 30lbs. One of the other members has only recently broken his duck after 2 1/2 seasons !!!! I'm not one for chasing big fish but wish I could at least put one or two more of the lakes residents on my mat this term. Sure things will get increasingly better as I spend more time at the lake and get to know it better. Patience is a virtue!!!
  2. What, no replies........................... just about sums it up for me, regular "blanker" I'm afraid !!!!!
  3. Y'could do worse than look at the JRC Sti, I've been running one for a couple of years now and can't fault it. But like previous post it really is "Horses for Courses" mate and depends on how and where you dip y'boilies. If I had the cash and was able to pick any bivvy I'd be looking towards the Nash Double-Top Extreme but you WILL be spending more tha a ton for that mate. JRC also do an STI brolly which is what I use for Summer months, should get one (if y barter) for less than £100 but it is open-fronted and you'll need to buy an over-wrap (£60-ish) to get full bivvy protection. One benefit with the STI brolly is it's VERY quick to errect (and move pegs).
  4. Have you considered the JRC STI range, great bit of kit for the price both my current bivvies are JRC STI's. I've got th 1-Man bivvy for winter and the open fronted STI brolly for the warmer months. Agreed, great kit for the money. Only reason for looking at the Nash DT is to gain a bit more space. The STI 1 man is a tad tight for me and my kit.
  5. Excellent, thank guys. Really does look like a good bit of kit.
  6. ....... anyone got one or heard whether they're as good as they sound. I'm not in tne market for a new bivvy yet but thought it might be a good thing to put on my Xmas wish list. http://www.nashtackle.com/Bivvies-and-Umbr...reme_2_man.html
  7. Kestrel, sounds like you're suffering with "Gingerbreaditus" mate, don't let the place beat you up, that thirty you desire is in there and will be yours eventually. Until your moment arrives just enjoy the lake. As you know I'm struggling a tad myself but gonna stick to my guns and keep going. I just LOVE getting out and being at the waterside, putting a fish on the mat really is just a bonus to me.
  8. maybe too late for tonight but try these:- http://www.tackleuk.co.uk/korda-hybrid-ext...ops-p-2952.html not tried them myself but worth a look.
  9. ................. try one of these buddy, should do a job for you !!! http://www.fatbraintoys.com/toy_companies/...CFRcGEgod4Ad_og
  10. I can't go so there's a free entry voucher (via Carp World Mag) worth £10 waiting for anyone who wants it. You'll need to collect it though cos no time to send. First come, first served !!!! Ring me on 01223 325034 til 6pm then 01480 831394 after 8pm
  11. Hi Mike, thanks for that. Y'Right it was a huge fish. Spooky thing is my mate on his first trip to our lake after a fortnight in France caught the very SAME fish last Saturday, just 5 days after I'd put it on the mat. Weight had dropped below the magical 30lb mark so assume that it had maybe dropped some spawn or "sulked" and not fed between captures. I checked my scales and they are spot on the mark. It was made spookier because my mate phoned me to go to lake and take photos for him not realising it was the same fish I'd had so I drove the few miles to help him out with piccies and was a tad shocked to see the same "monster2 laying on his mat !!!!!
  12. Big thank you !!! Cheers Richard. Phil PS - Blame the wife for the WinZip thing, I just gave her the camera mate.............. ........ that's the one !!!! Still buzzin' mate and can't wait til weekend session.
  13. Spend a quid or two more (or shop around for a deal) and go for the FOX ULTRA 3-leg. Wish I had !!!! But if I could choose any new one now and money not an issue, I'd go for the new 4-leg Nash Indulgence.

  18. ........ it certainly ruined mine last night, 'er in doors was 'avin none of it !!!!!!! Wind does affect you fishing, sit facing a good SWesterly blow and your chances of a run or two should be better.
  19. Thanks guys, I know Ash @ Leslies so I'll have a word with him to fetch me a pair up at the weekend.
  20. I've tried both and they have both gone blunt VERY quickly. Superb for the first 30-40 rigs I made up but are now blunter than very blunt things on a very blunt day!!!! To be honest I have been using Fox Mask & Insider for most of my rigs so maybe blades not suited to coated type braids????? Is there any way to sharpen them or do I have to buy new ones every 30-40 rigs??
  21. I've got a "cracking" black plastic DIAWA seat box with the additional draw section fitted on top + Octaplus legs (need fitting) + Octoplus Pole holder hook (attach to legs) internal tackle box (unused, as new). I live fairly close-ish (Papworth Everard, Nr St Ives, Huntingdon) but my sister is in Gorefield Nr Wisbech if that's closer I could have her pick it up and you could collect from there. Could possibly arrange courier (next day) from work for £7.00 if you're interested. It's all yours for £80 (+ courier if needed) mate, trust me that's a REAL bargain cos the the internal tackle box retails around £30 alone. Also have an 11m Garbolino Carnival pole + 2 spare tips and "posh" blue carry bag if y'interested. Only used half a dozen times, just never too to pole fishing I'm afraid. Not the worlds best pole by todays standards but good back up and great in the carp puddle type venues. Shall we say £50 all in and its yours. I've a few pole floats and bits n bobs stashed away somewhere which I'll chuck in !!!! This is work pc so gone home after 4pm today. May not be in to work tomorrow so cannot reply till Monday. If truly interested you can ring me on 0775 229 9938.
  22. I think y'missing the point here !!!! It's really down to YOUR morals and priciples matey. We're not saying you WON'T catch, in fact it sounds like the carp in your lake are still on the scoff and not yet quite ready to spawn (doubt they've finished!!!). At the end of the day it's up to you but heed well the wise words of wisdom you've received from this forum and think twice before going. Unless of course you simply want to put fish on the mat at ALL cost and without caring a flying fig for their well-being. I'm going on a recce of my lake tonight because fish were showing signs of spawning last weekend and if they are actively rampant and getting their fins over I for one will not be chucking a rig this weekend and maybe not even next. Have a break mate, and look forward to the BIG scoff up they'll have when they're done "humping"
  23. That's simple, don't bother, just leave them alone!!!1
  24. ....... problems scrolling down to the last posts on longer threads? First viewing is fine but if I then later re-visit the post my blue scroll bar on the right elongates to about 6cm and hits bottom and stops the scroll long before I've got down to the last post!!!!! Very wierd, been doing this for las two days, have I "clicked" on something silly????
  25. We are indeed................. I think!!! It was many years (maybe 18-20) ago though and much has changed down there now. The peg we dug out barely got fished after that and is now completely overgrown again. It's the VERY furthest point from the car park (lake two) just as you leave the fishery to go towards the little stream & metal bridge. I sometimes go for a stroll with the dog and chuckle as I walk passed the spot. Can't remember how many fish I missed that night but it was at least half a dozen. Think it felt like more cos little bruvver who sat right alongside me didn't get a touch on either rod all night and he got really peeee'd off with everything !!!!
