From the more objective view. "Gone mad" seems a relative term. From where I sit - lightheartedly it was/is a damn short trip. In the carp's case, madness seems to be a disorder impairing UK fishermen's capacity to function within the boundry of normalicy and logic. Do the words "normal" and "logic" ever belong in the same sentence with "carp" Illegal fish are not a likely source for disease or illness. Considering the mobility of the human population or prolifiration within the aquarium industry what would be the odds of infection coming from this illegal import of carp? The odds are the same. The number of occurances tip heavily in one direction. A different issue would be the genetic issue. If a goal is to keep a particular strain pure, illegal fish would certainly present a serious problem. Phone
