  1. Ihave just posted there are barbel in the Test at Timsbury. atb malc
  2. The Best thing to use is an old weight from a dumbell set say 1lb in weight and connect some wire cable the sort that's used on a bike cable about 6ft in length, then tie some rope to the end of the cable the length of the width of the canal you are fishing. The next thing to do is throw it to the other bank let it sink and draw it back and forward and the cable will saw the ice,do this again to the other side of the swim then pull the centre which should now be free towards you and break it and put in a safe place NOT ON THE TOWPATH. hey presto. atb malc
  3. I have just read on the Keith Arthur page in the A.T and it has been reported that a barbel has been caught on the river Test at Timsbury. I am a barbel angler and know how i feel about this but would like to hear other people's views. atb malc

    Grayling

  6. What motivates you to get out of a warm bed and participate in your chosen field of angling? atb malc
  7. Pellets are still a good bait in winter as long as they have a low oil content, fish have problems digesting oils in low temps. As said meat and worms are good when there is an influx of warm coloured water in the river bit my favourite is as Seph said pellet with a frost & flood paste wrap which has very if any oil content. atb malc
  8. Perch are a shoal fish when small but become nomadic when they grow larger, when you catch a big perch you usually catch a bigger one after and then nothing else. atb malc
  9. "Beware of low flying meat" My pendulum casting will get better with time ( about 10 years methinks ) atb malc
