We had 5 days-off on May-day here in Russia, yesturday I was drinking to the good health of my best friend, an angler also, on his 50 s anniversary, we gonna start continueing it on a river boat on the Volga starting from afternoon, and I'll be happy to drink a couple or more to Elton and to all AN mambers! With my fishing platform-carrier having rather long adjustable 'legs', I am asking for advice how high over the water surface is it better to sit when using with a pole, match or bolognes rod and when fishing to hand? As for positioning my a"" and feet, I can do it by raising or lowering the bench I am sitting on, following Bob Nudd's recommendations from his book on fishing with a pole. I meen to ask how high shall I sit in general to operate the tackle properly and to see the float better. Tight Lines, Nicholai

After just having finished reading Lee Jackson's Carp Clinic and viewing one more time Carp fising in France with Andy Little, I wonder, whether there are such great specialists in bleak fishing as well? As we say here, 'everyone goes mad in his own way', but for me personally a bite is the symble of fishing. The more the bites, the happier I am, this is why I am rather a match angler, than a trophey fisherman, although there's no doubt, that a carp bite makes the heart tremble much harder. Ken, In the 70-s I fished in Carnafuli River, Bangladesh, once. My first and last fish kept its eyes over the water surface, and when hooked and landed, it ran towards me on front fins squealing. I threw my rod (willow whip) into the water and never tried again. So, Look Out ! Tight Lines! ------- Nicholai

Some people say, they were strewing some orange-colour substanse into hole in ice, others say they applied it on bloodworms just prior to fishing. Anyway, they were very successful in taking roach.
