  1. yeah mate no problems....keep it quite an simple and the fish shouldn't move out...you only need 3 casts 1 for each rod...i'll sometimes leave the rigs in the rings and wait to see a fish pop its head out then drop the bait on its head...you made a good point about the wind the fish really do love a fresh wind on there...
  2. a1 pits at newark mate 6 lakes plus trent....got everythin from tough big lake with fish to mid 30 down to smaller lakes stuffed with fish....plus the trent can be awesom at night....
  3. cheers mate any information would be great.....
  4. yeah think i normally go easter bank holiday...never seems to be as busy...think most people don't bother cos they think it'll be busy...the key on ther is to take your time in selecting your swim...sit and watch the water for a hour or 2 in that time you should be able to work out wher the fish are then set up on them....stick some little bags on em and wait...don't set bivy up and if the fish move then you move with them..if you can stay mobile you should start to get some results...key is keepin your eyes on the water...get up an hour before 1st light make a cuppa and sit and watch...if fish are showing elsewher on lake then move on to em...so many people on ther stay zipped up in bed till gone 10 in morn and by that time they'll have missed the best period...so in other words keep your eyes peeled bang the bags on the fish and watch the bobbins fly...oh and don't skimp on bait...stick a quality bait on em and they'll eat it...seen so many people blank on ther cos they wanted to save a few quid on a k of boilie...a quality frozen bait will get you alot more fish on the mat than a cheap ready made on ther...and don't ignore the margins most people giv it the big chuck wher 90% of my fish have come at no more than 40 yards....had a 27 in 1 and half foot of water no more than a foot from bank on last vist ther!!!!!! christ givin away all my secrets on that water here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so keep it
  5. the thing with grorge is he is a pretty good source of information...if it isn't fishing well at least he'll tell you....only wish all baliffs was as honest....but yeah kno wot you mean...get him talking about porn and he don't stop....i don't fish ther 2 much only really when syndicate lake is hard going so jus go to get a bend in rod....if get on fish can be prolific last time i went i did 2 nites for 12 carp all between 18 and 27...7 of em was 20s...plus 3 bream up to 9lb and a 6lb eel.....so don't really kno why i don't go ther much as the average size for area is pretty good...yeah i'll be up for a sesh sometime downther but rember its shut till march.....i think?? haven't fished the back lake but it looks stunning!!!
  6. make the holes with a shot gun....that should cure the problem!!!!
  7. mate you won't catch them sat at home in front of the fire...think you got more chance at the lake....but then again jus been outside...sat in front of the fire at home might be a good option...wot water u going on if u don't mind saying?? i hardly kno any decent winter waters around here that allow nights...i'm on a syndicate that is cracking in the winter at night with some very big fish in...but some clown jus stopped nights for 3 months...brilliant wen youv'e got a winter campain planned!!!!!!!
  8. it would happen to be ther....u kno i then?? u seen it happen??? u kno who i'm talkin about then??? told him b4 but reply i got was ''why don't you f**k off''...which was nice!!!1
  9. i kno a lake near me and the fish always do it...its become known as ''the wave'' ...its like the fish are waving at you...not small fish either...anythin from upper doubles to mid 30s...easy to find the fish jus stick a bait on em an watch them bobbins fly....quite funny as quite alot of people see the fich doing this and the 1st thing they do is put a marker on ther heads...seen the nephew of a very well respected carper do this then follow it with 25k of meathod balls put out all over the place (none landing near the marker) and scaring the whole lot out of the area....not good when he does it in to the swim where you've been cathing from....i'm sure people will kno who i mean if they have fished the same mid lincs day ticket water....
  10. all depends on th sort of distance you'll need to be fishing...one of the waters i fish is all long range work and i use a 3.5tc...perfect for them long chucks....
  11. anyone ever fished the noord williems kanaal in holland?? me an a couple of mates are off out ther later in the year as a bit of a change from our normal over seas venue....anyone no anythin about the kanaal at all???? any help would be awesom.... cheers scoop
  12. no one has mentioned you MUST make sure the lead can come free of the leader wen youv'e hooked a fish...i wouldn't advise usin inlines with looped leadcore as the lead mite have trouble passing over...personally i would never use the stuff cos if your main line breaks and a fish is towing it around it can easily get locked up around snags ect....i've had to get a dead fish out of a lake that had been teathered to a tree because of the stuff...not good personally i use the anchor tubing that ESP do as it is heavier than leadcore and is 100% safe
  13. try to book whole lake to yourselves u only want 2 or 3 people max...fish aint stupid in there put your bait so its touchin weed in them little holes only way we have had any joy in ther...you'll find the fish will clear your freebies out and just leave your hookbait...use the old classic sweetcorn....we don't mind blanking on ther jus a truly awesom experiance being ther...the atmospher is electric!!!!!!!!
  14. i'd steer clear of the hemp at this time of year mate..really fills the fish up an once they had a munch they won't eat too much for a while after...jus try it in a garden pond....i'd stick to the high attract singles..
  15. i live near tattershall so kno all the spots around ther pretty well...never seen any barbel but been told the ea put some in
  16. cat do feed in winter jus check this pic out (56.8) caught on 28th dec can't tell u too much about the bait but it was bright pink an had been inglug for ages...it was fished on a roving chod rig...think thats the best bet just hope u land one on the nose
  17. dude try using some solar nuggets in your bags...will sink pukka on to the top of the silt as the foam is bouyant...
  18. i was told its a syndicate strech....but some people like to keep spots to themselves so u never kno...i'm pretty sure its near a koi farm and the fish got in ther during a flood....sounds more like an insurance job to me....i'd stick to the trent as you seem to kno the river a bit...i've fished the nene quite a bit in the past and its just no fun anymore cos the fish get hammered...i do a few nights on trent...best advice is to steer clear of the crowds and find your own little spots (1.5mile walk to my fav spot so just rods, bed, little bag of tackle and bait)and keep the bait going in and the action can be immense...as for the witham i live right next to it only seen one carp in 9 years of looking...only kno of one person who has caught but that is going back to when ther was a warm water outlet at bardney but that has gone so it will be a tough challange...i bet is most fish have been nicked as is the case with alot of the carp in rivers around here
  19. scoop

    boat

can any one advise on a decent boat i can buy?????? i'll mainly be using it to get weeded carp out of syndicate lake but it will get odd journeys out into the trout lake on our site when i do a bit of fly fishing...any one kno a boat that will be ok for both these jobs cheers scoop
  20. i know someone who caught that ghostie it was from a very very very private strech of the river... i've seen photos but he is not aloud to tell any one the location all i kno is its in between 2 locks and the fish are basically stuck in ther...try spots around newark we had carp up to 36 from ther plus them barbel things give good sport in between proper fish....u got any other rivers in mind?
  21. yeah some of the spots on our lake are at extreme range when i get the big chuck gear out 140 is no problem (plenty of beach casting in the past really does help add extra yards on to cast)....trouble is 90% of my fishing at that range will be singles as baiting up is impossible...a baitboat would help in that case but couldn't use one cos seen them abused to many times and i think if you can't cast to it you shouldn't fish there...i know some people won't like that but its just how i feel about boats
  22. had problems with the krsyonite seems really brittle every spool my local shop sold was returned...how u spoolin up with sensor i never had any problems....i put mine in a bucket of warm water...the coiling can be caused by exessive use of baitrunner!!!!!!!????????
  23. any one out ther used braid mainlines??????? a couple of the lakes i'm fishing have relly heavy weed and i just feel using braid will keep me in contact with the fish at all times and allow me to control the fish better....what does it cast like as sometimes need to fish at extreme range (140yards plus)???? any one know of any good sinking braids????? cheers chaps scoop
  24. gotta be dawia sensor in the brown....truly awesome stuff...only one other line i'd use apart from that and thats the nash bullet use in for my river fishing in both uk and france when fishing in extreme snags as it has awesome abrasion resistance...but for my stillwater fishing the sensors casts well and copes well in the weedy lakes i fish
  25. check out these on this site awesom bits of kit...i use the nashy carpers head torch can sleep with it around neck and don't kno its ther also a pukka amount of light jus the rite amount for the little jobs at nite batteries last ages aint changed mine for a year and it gets use 3 nights a week all year round http://www.shortferry.co.uk/endtackle/nresults.asp?cat=LIT
