  8. Once upon a time in a village, a man appeared and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for £10 each. The villagers seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest, and started catching them. The man bought thousands at £10 and as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort. He further announced that he would now buy at £20. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again. Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms. The offer increased to £30 each and the supply of monkeys became so little that it was an effort to even see a monkey, let alone catch it! The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at £50 ! However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now buy on behalf of him. In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers. "Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has collected. I will sell them to you at £35 and when the man returns from the city, you can sell them to him for £50 each." The villagers rounded up with all their savings and bought all the monkeys. Then they never saw the man nor his assistant, only monkeys everywhere! Now you have a better understanding of how the stock market works.

  11. I work at a 24/7/365/year papermill in North Wales. It is a massive site with many lakes used for water treament.During the night it is illuminated to daylight standards with huge floodlights. The birdlife seems to exist on a 24 hour rota.At any time of the night you will see them going about their business as usual.Coming off nights at 05-30am on the 2/2/08 I watched a male blackbird collect a huge beakfull of worms and fly off.Does this mean they have youngsters to feed.? I don't buy into this global warming carp etc etc so is it because the site is abnormally warm, or is it because of the 24 hour life they have to endure??

  18. Well at last a result.I bought the van back from the insurers for £170 and got a healthy payout as well It has cost me £75 for the new windscreen,£40 for 2 new wing mirrors and should cost me around £30 for a new wiper arm and blade. Not bad when you consider that the insurance approved repairers said it would cost in the region of £2500 to put right. I think they must try and recover the cost of the courtesy car in the estimate.

  21. I have a little used Mal Storey Severn/Trent feeder rod for sale. This is a serious feeder rod for work on the rivers were a decent sized feeder is needed. It will cast a 3oz feeder with ease.I have tried it for light estuary flattie bashing, and the fight you get is unbelievable. It is a 12ft 6in 3 piece carbon rod in excellent condition.I will sell for £30 plus postage.
  22. Elton,do you have a price for the van?You can PM me if needs be.
  23. I,m getting the van back from the approved insurance repairers, who seem to have quoted for every little nick and dent, and taking it to another garage for a second opinion.I will also explore the possibility of buying the van from the insurance company for 5% of its book value and getting it fixed myself. If that fails,I may well be in touch Elton.
  24. Following an altercation with some motorway traffic cones,my insurer has decided to write off my van.The list of damage from the insurers approved repairers suggested it had in fact been hit by a passing meteorite. Now I'm sure I won't be able to get a van as good for what they offer me,so is there anything I can do to make sure I get the best possible price off them? Thanks for any advice.
