  1. I see the gloves are off then. In these proposals, how do they suggest this will be policed. I for one would'nt take the least bit of notice even if this pie-in-the-sky proposal got passed.
  2. If I can get the day off, I'm fine with a weekday.
  3. The peir is fishing quite well at the present, mostly Codling,Whiting, Pout plus the odd dog and bits. Fish the end in calm conditions and the stem when rough. Ebb tends to fish best. For up to date info contact either Richad or Rob at Metclaffes
  4. John, Why not try Battlesbridge at low water!!
  5. Hi Sam, I'm going to try the river tomorrow morning and chance the weed, I'm thinking that fishing a couple of hours each side of low might avoid most of the green stuff. You know the spot I'll be at, one of your fathers old favs. I'll let you know if I have a result..........
  6. Sad, and I thought this was a "Angler's" forum. "to play for the running costs" is no excuse.
  7. Not till it gets a bit to chilly for our "guests", there has been the odd rip-off involving these charming people, mostly when holding a pointed piece of sharpened steel. Once the macky's, go then they will, but take a friend or two.
  8. Hi Captain, Licence!!!, there's as much chance of me buying one as there is of me becoming pregant. After this performance, who can have any faith in this shower of s**t to use our money to OUR benefit.A total boycott might make there muppets stand up and listen, but I doubt it.
  9. Not fished this side but have fished the North side this far up. Expect to find Flounder (Thames Turbot), Eels, schoolies and odd Sole plus Smelt and other mini's. Best rigs are a two or three hook flapper not cast to far and bait for the top end of the Thames is worm, Rag,Maddies and Lug. Fish the flood from just after low. The ebb on all but the smallest of tides, runs like a train.
  10. I'm sure the seaward side is "free fishing" but the navigation is club water which I think is day ticket. The controlling club maybe Maldon AC but I'm sure Sam or one of the Maldon tackle shops can provide more sound details. There's some water below the weir in spots at low but there's also a lot of mud between water and bank. The sea stretch is best fished approx 1 1/2hrs each side of high. My friend who's Maldon based likes the bit by Tesco's car park - also handy for a loaf for bait!!!. I would suggest you have a recce around low water first before fishing "blind".
  11. Can't believe you don't know Beeliegh if you've fished Essex for 16 years, after all there's only three rivers in Essex that are more than a running tap. Location:- approx 1 mile West of Maldon, it's where the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation (River Chelmer) and River Blackwater meet, there's a wier for run-off and the canal loops around Heybridge and finishes at the Sea Lock. The Blackwater estuary's (renamed River Chelmer once through Maldon) tidal limit is the weir. There's been freshwater fish of various specie on the seaward side of the weir for as long as I can remember, and I'm long past 21!!. It's renown for Mullet for which Sam was having a crack and throws up the odd Sea Trout. As Jim mentioned, these area's are a "no mans land" and can surprise most. A friend of mine, a few years ago, caught a 5lb + Pike while spinning for Schoolies with a fly spoon there. It look none the worst for it's sea water dip!!.
  12. Meanwhile back on Planet Earth..........................................
  13. Matt, The hens are just coming on, you may find that somewhere like Bait and Tackle may have some, other than that it's DIY. Glad to hear you've got a trial with Gods Wonderful Football Team. Good Luck.
