  1. Glen leave last summer out of it,its a new season now lets see see how it goes hopefully it will be a good one for all. no poit opening old wounds things have changed so lets see how it progresses without bitterness. regards Andy
  2. Not getting confused steve. Just saying it only takes one daft accident and they do happen i have taken people to hospital to have hooks removed on a few occasions not allways there hooks, i took my brother to get a rather large lure out of his eye lid it was not his he was lucky not to have been blind. I dont really think it will come to that.and like you say it does need looking at.
  3. Most harbours around the coast wont let you launch without PLI. Before going commercial i got mine added on the house insurance peanuts and worth it. there are plenty of ways you can damage some one i was out one day with a few mates jigging and one lad got stuck on the bottom in a mad atempt to get it off wanged his rod up in the air and the line went round his mates neck just about took his head bit of quick thinking with a knife sorted it but if it had have braid instead of mono could have been a different story. even on the beach how many times have you heard a lead crack of and seconds later heard a thud only takes one. And we are living in a claim society. I would not worry about a few quid get pli. All the commercial fishermen have to have it and a lot more.
  4. John leave me out of this, the reason i got licenced was for peace of mind.you are correct about getting free of the ever tightening by laws. It took a lot of time and money to get everything sorted with the licence so many rules and regulations as you know yourself, but now its nice to go to sea knowing that if we have a good day we can land the catch with peace of mind sell a bit of fish sell a few lobster stock up the freezer, we make a few quid that pays for fuel, gear, boat dues, insurance, ect We dont even pay the staff But what we do have is a good time and no worries. So as soon as this sea falls away john we will have a go pay will be the same if thats ok
  5. Good food rays bream if you get chance of a live one paul would love to cook one up. I remember last time they were around in bay no one knew what they were and they were left to rot i have a fish cookery book with one or two recipies in for them and apparently very good tucker.
  6. Paul we have been having the same all summer long and they seem to be increasing everything you put in the water pots nets anchors all come back over the side with pipe fish wrapped round them. There is deffinatly something strange happening. I have spent most of my life on the beach and out at sea and have seen strange things happening the same as you will have we had a year when we had hundreds of rays bream swimming hard ashore around our feet a year when we had hundreds of conger eels washed upon the beach only a few weeks ago the fartherinlaw picked a huge spider crab up off the beach its leg span two and a half feet,it was just walking up the beach. When i was a kid on the beach back in the sixtys and seventys pipe fish were a novelty a rare thing to sea on the east coast now my kids go down and pick up dozens of them.things are on the change maybe we will have to change our fishing tactics or have we allready.?
  7. I have sat in the boat at Robin Hoods Bay landing and counted as many as fifty herring gulls all with pipe fish wrapped around there beak a funny old sight watching them try to swollow them not easy for a big seagull,so the smaller sea birds would really struggle.
  8. Walcott have you had your medicine today :lol You still not given me that address you will never get rich at this rate.
  9. As daft as it sounds a real good blow for week or two may keep a few boats off the water and give the cod a chance to drop there spawn they are pritty full at the moment.
  10. Yes paul down tide sqid and mussel had thirty sized, lot of small that went back, lots of pouting some, nice codling biggest eight lb lot in three to five lb bracket weather looks like it will settle for weekend so will get another go saterday or sunday, with a bit of luck.
  11. Must say glen did feel a tad sorry for you guys with clive netting so close to shore on a match day like you say first time i have seen a netter that close to shore for a long time. Mind you there has been a lot of talk about the amount of fish in that area. I do know that they have had a lot of bother with seals same as us you only get one day in an area if you are lucky enough to avoid seals you may get a bit of fish. but his timeing was bad for you lot Could you cast to where he was, there is a big drop off where he was, had some good fish out of it in the past.
  12. Paul had a good day came home with a nice bit of fish plenty action like i said you guys wuold have had a good day with a bit of swell there seems to be a lot of codling just off a bit some good fish amongst them we have had a hell of a lot of small ling hard ashore this year mor than normal another one of those stange things thats happening still loads of pipe fish in most of the codling,is it the same in the ones you have been getting off the beach. And yes john has put on his skins and back to sea for a trip or two should be a good crack him del and little kev. They are on prawns at the moment, are you ready to go with yours paul.
