  1. You could try changing the end ring on one of your rods for one which allows screw in attachments. You can then try both quiver tips and swing tips.
  2. My one and only pike was caught whilst fishing for roach. It grab a hold of a small roach as I was reeling in and the size 18 hook I was using got caught in the scissors. It was only just over 5lb but I was well chuffed.
  3. Having read recently some people change their line yearly I thought I would test the lines I have on my reels/spools (7No) and hook length / spare line (8No). Bearing in mind I haven't changed my line or bought new line for abouy 10 years I was expecting most, if not all, to fail. Surprisingly only 3 were well below the stated BS and one was about 90%. All the rest were at or above the stated BS. Having tested all my lines I am now confident in there strength; if only I was as confident in my own abilities.
  4. Stikflote I have the same problem but I know it is due to my works computer. It is a right pain as most video links given now are to youtube so there's lots of stuff I can't see.
  5. My first ever fish was a small roach. It was in 1977 and I was on holiday in Scotland with my parents staying near the Lake of Monteith. There is a small river feeding the lake that I fished in the evenings. I went back there last year to see if it was the same as I remember, which it was pretty much. The log cabins we stayed in were still there as was the river, although it was a lot smaller than I remember.
  6. I have never been fishing for pike but from what I have read this time of year, beginning of Autumn, is a good time to go. Maybe the river where Bob Nudd was fishing had been low and warm during the summer months and possibly having had recent rain the pike, and other fish, had started feeding more prolifically. This would obviously make the situation appear worse than it actually is and any near jerk reaction for a cull wouldn't actually be required. Not being an expert in these matters, and not knowing the river conditions prior to his fishing, I just put this forward for further discussion.
  7. If I am on a river (my preferred choice) then I will most likely be fishing for Chub. On llakes I will generally try for Tench.
  8. A. About 14 of the last 28 years in the UK B. About 30 times a year C. Never by EA; only twice by club bailiffs
