Wullie sorry mate did not reply to your question. The set up I use(when not fly fishing MJB )

is a 20g controller float tied to the main line and then a trace as long as practicable,say 5-7' then your fly/lure/sandeel/Snatcher launce.

Using a decent spinning outfit you should be able to get approx 60/70yds.

It is ideal for the shallower marks where you will tend to lose spinners.

As Manxman does I also switch sim cards when at the Mull,normally do the switch at Dumfries which is the half way mark for me and also a loo break.

Hi all

 

My brother in law had an 8.5 pounder last week. It was only his 2nd ever attempt at shore fishing. Poor lad only caught 2 small ones on his first attempt. Its all downhill from here.
