Norman Tebbit once said if his dad had been out of work he'd have been on his bike looking for work a bit sharpish.

 

The orchestrated hate campaign that resulted still reverberates to this day.

 

 

one of the problems with Tebbits remark was he and his father hailed from the relitivley affluant south where work was a bike ride away. it didnt translate to the North, where the majority of unemployed poeple at the time resided. the inferance was all the long term unemployed in the country, where in that situation by design, a remark that was and is offensive to a lot of willingly hard working poeple if given the chance.

 

As you can Gather I am no fan of Tebbit I did however admire his tenacity in the face of the Brighton bombing

you know me too well! I'm having a few St Peters Ruby Red Ales tonight, then when the Goat curry is being digested I'll be moving to a bottle of Morellino di Scansano, which if you haven't tried it, and you have the slightest inclination towards Italian red, is well worth seeking out.
