I have had to return my camcorder to Sony as it has become faulty.

 

It was purchased NEW from a seller on Ebay..this person sells lots of cameras etc.

 

I have several reciepts e.g. confirmation of winning, thanks for payment, confirmation of payment via pay pal.

 

Camera only came on to market in June 2007.

 

Despite sending copies of all the emails regarding payment, Sony are saying that "the paypal reciept is not a valid receipt" and therefore not proof of purchase.

 

They(Sony) also appear to be saying that "the goods could have been secondhand"

Sadly, I think that they will say that and stick by it if you cannot give a dealer's name and address and a receipt from that dealer. I don't know what your warranty forms are like in the UK these days, but those we get here always ask for the name of the dealer from whom you bought the item.

Hi Chevin, I have sent them plenty of proof of purchase, but they seem to be implying that I bought secondhand!!!!!!!!!!1

Den, have you contacted the eBay seller? I have seen auctions where the seller will provide a copy of the original receipt so the warranty can be used. Can't be the first time the eBay seller has encountered this situation if they sell a lot of new electronics.

Steve, 8th August 2007. I have all the original email confirmations re seller and Paypal etc which have been sent to sony. These all include the word NEW.

 

Jan, I have emailed the seller, no reply as of yet, but have emailed him/her again today.

 

The link I have provided to the seller shows quite clearly that he is bonafide...pages of stuff!!!!

 

By the way Steve, if you need any help a day or so before the Fish in, I will be glad to assist, provided there is no heavy lifting :)

Update...seems my efforts were not in vain. I have now received confirmation that they will repair the camera under warranty :)

 

Had to damn well fight for it though.....

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

If GOD had NOT meant us to go fishing, WHY did he give us arms then??

(If you can't help out someone in need then don't bother my old Dad always said! My grandma put it a LITTLE more, well different! It's like peeing yourself in a black pair of pants she said! It gives you a LOVELY warm feeling but no-one really notices!))
