Very sound man running a very sound outfit that is well worth supporting even if you never fish sea-trout or salmon: what Bruce and his colleagues are trying to halt - dodgy food in our shops and supermarkets, the way an unregulated industry can damage the whole environment and not merely wild fish stocks etc - affects us all.

"What did you expect to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House perhaps? The Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically...?"

as long as they take 60.000 wild salmon a year i wont be buying a ticket. they need to protect these from commercial fishermen properly first, ban the commercials totally, then look at the farmed fish issues. i think they are doing things the wrong way round in my opinion.

The fact is that the farming of salmon DOES affect the wild fish:

The sandeels used in pellets are the food of the wild fish, but they are literally hoovered up from the sea in order to make the pellets.

The fish cages are rife with sea lice, and as the wild salmon pass the cages on their way into the rivers, they catch these lice.

Then there's the escapes of farmed salmon, competing for food and interbreeding with the wild fish.

And also the huge amount of waste and pollution the farms produce.

So you see, the farms really are the problem.
