Rescobie Loch trip

I see Jim Dyle has been too polite to post the results of our trip so I'll get in first.

Met Jim for the first time yesterday, perfect Gent and a hell of a fly fisher, and he even provided lunch Sitting on the side of the loch drinking a nice Cabernet Sauvignon. Not like most of my fishing trips

A look in Jims immaculate and well stocked fly boxes was an embarrasing education for me as well.

Once fishing, Jim started to land a succesion of quality brown trout between 1lb & 2lb with the odd 3lb rainbow thrown in

I started to land a succesion of absolutely nothing

After a couple of hours of embarrasment, and trying most of the flies in Jims box Jim suggested a change of leader from standard mono to fluorocarbon

Second cast - 3lb rainbow!

I think the difference was that Jim was prepared to work much harder than me, changing lines, leaders and flies all the time, maybe thats the competition angler in him!

I finished with the 1 but had a great evenings fishing in good company (as well a a red face )

Why thank you kind sir, I think alot of yesterdays fishing is down to confidence. I knew that the tactics worked so was just waiting for them to produce! you on the other hand had to find out if I knew what I was talking about and then start to fish. It was certainly a very pleasant evening and I too look forward to the rematch!!! We should perhaps open it up to any other interested anglers? Thanks for a good evening :cool:

I would like to go up for a trip some time and havent fished Rescobie before so thatwould be nice.

If I was forced to make any criticism at all it would be that a couple of pictures would have been nice.

Seriously, if anyone fancies a go I can guarantee there are plenty of quality fish in the Loch, can't guarantee you'll catch them though

Sorry about the photos, or lack of them, but then everyone would see the truth about my "well organised" fly box,s (not). I only carry a camera when I,m chaseing something unusual!! or I,m fishing somewhere different. I suppose I,ll have to go again and take some photos, it,s a hard life!!!!
