Waders

I've seen some really nice Neoprene Daiwa Lochmors - retail at £120 ish... Has anyone seen or tried these, as i'm quite keen on a pair.

The reason alot of fisheries ban waders is the danger - if you fall in , the waders can fill up (if material is impervious) and drag you down to a watery, potentially drowning situation. Waders are not recommended on boats for this very reason, although neoprene and breathables would be ok with quick release shoulder straps.

Sorry to disagree, but there is no danger in wearing waders. If you fall in and you waders fill with water, the water in your waders will weigh exactly the same as the water outside your waders. Therefore they will not drag you down. Neoprene waders will probably have slight positive bouyancy due to the air in the neoprene.

Waders will be heavy though when you get out of the water, and full waders may make climbing up a bank pretty difficult. I do a lot of wading in rocky rivers and have been known to fall in from time to time :D

Found this, best info on the subject I've read
