like to try my hand

A close friend and myself would like to try our hands at fly fishing.

We both experienced in coarse fishing but have absolutlely no experience of flyflishing.

So I have two questions.

1. I am in derby, does anyone know of anywhere reasonably nearby that could show us the ropes for a reasonable price?

 

2. I've seen argos are now selling fly rods and the basic essentials...some of the coarse gear in the past has been less than adequate i.m.o but more recently they have improved there standardsso basically what i'm asking is, is the tackle up to scratch?

Any help and advice greatly appreciated.thx.

Stay away from the Argos kit,have a read of Troutfisherman magazine it will give you pointers regarding tackle and venues.

I would steer clear of the Argos gear. There is lots of very good gear at very good prices around at the moment from all of the internet sellers.

Get the best you can afford, regarding rods and reels I always feel that a second hand quality item is better than a cheap new one for the same price.

The advice on the argos gear seems clear enough, so wont be buying from their this time. Totally understand where sportsmans coming from about the second hand gear as well ...see you all soon I hope ...tight lines.
