i was searching for diffrentground baits for carp when i can across this thing. No i have no intention of using it but ****** hell who came up with this.

South American rig developed for bighead carp.

 

They feed mostly on microscopic critters. Also turns out they have a sweet tooth and you can mash a ball of very sweet stuff onto the spring and catch them sometimes.

it seems to have its head on upside down ,thats some fighter

chesters1 - it surprised me too. The eye placement seems ideal for a bottom feeder but the bighead carp is a mid-water dweller and probably never looks for or directly at it's intended prey (plankton).

Phone - the first I'd ever heard of bighead or seen of that particular rig was when Georg Barth posted on carp.net. He is from Brazil and they were using it in his area.

 

So, South America in that case rather than South Africa.

The first, as I remember was "Brian SA", however, you may be correct. It is not a rig common to the US, that's for sure.

I was wondering if any of you followed the link and checked out the article on the siemese giant carp. Now thats a fish i would love to catch one day.
