Thanks Chavender, Had a quick look at your website and it looks very interesting.

I'm a slow reader so I'll go through it all later.

Me, too.

I would definately go for it. I haven't got one myself but I haven't been fishing rivers for very long. However, when I get a bit more experienced etc I'm definately going to buy one.

I'm just using a free spool reel at the moment but the control you get with a centre pin looks very appealing. Don't forget that when you use a 'pin you'll actually feel much closer to the action. No gears, clutches etc. Just your fingers.

I'm sure closed faced reels have their place too but if you want a centre pin then go for it. You only live once!

The best time to fish is when you have a chance.

I`ve got my reel now , well i`ve sent the cheque off for it. So am wondering what would be a suitable rod to go with it.

I was looking at the greys spinning rods which are nice and light and would serve for other purposes besides trotting. Anyone any other ideas?

Cheers

I just logged on as I have only just got in from fishing and have been having so much fun with my AN pin float fishing for perch I thought I would read this thread. One of the first posts was from Gerry (Argyll) I was only thinking of him today when a chap who was lure fishing stopped for a chat. I was fishing Frensham big pond & was thinking that Gerry probably would of liked it there. I also had a rod out for the tench, I had invited 'meatballs' down to tench fish Frensham with me but he did'nt make it.
