edd - for that price, I'd have to say you can't go far wrong. Not familiar with any of the items (don't have them on this side of the pond) but if the gear is at all decent, it should do fine.

Certainly, if you get the tackle tart bug at some point you will want to upgrade but those rods/reels should do fine to catch fish for a few years.

Certainly, if you expect to hook lots of fish in the 40-70lb range and if you need to get your rig out 150 yards to hook them, that gear probably won't serve but I gotta say it is probably better than the rods/reels I use and mine do just fine.

IMO you get what you pay for,My advice is pay abit more if you can as you will more than likely upgrade in the near future.

TOTALLY AGREE !!!!!!!

Go for the best you can afford, first time around or you'll be upgrading before you know it and second hand tackle doesn't sell for good prices, trust me.

One good reason to do something is better than a thousand bad excuses not to.

If you're new to anything dont plunge in with cheque book wide open. Also both Ron Thompson and Okuma are noted for value for money, so you might actually be pleasantly surprised at the quality. Okay so its not top of the range, but you'll have plenty of time later, when you know a bit more about carp fishing, to flash out on the pricey stuff.
