Syndicate (or big "unfished" waters) in Norfolk

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

Looking for a new challenge after only fishing heavily stocked commercials.

Want to fish a big lake that is rarely fished and has big carp in.

Probaly will be a gravel pit or something.

Anyone know of anywhere round Norfolk, where It will be a challenge to catch, but there will be a chance of getting a good sized carp.

Any websites or anything.

Night fishing must be allowed.

Thanks for any help

Dan

nonsense, it's proper fishing, you think catching a carp from a gravel pit is fun, wait till you get a 10 pound river carp on, you'll never forget it. there are plenty of people on here who can give advice on locations, but your regular carp tackle will do, juys leave the bite alarms at home!

the yare at brundall has some whoopers in there seen them when they spawned they are massive?

you really need to get some fish under your belt before setting yourself such a task as you will neeed motivation and a reaklly sense that if you get a chance you will be able to take it.

the fish are nomadic but once found you will have alot of fish in front of you.

Taverham ski pit used to have the odd big fish in it, as did frinton. haveringland was rumoured to have some fish in it but, never confirmed it, this is going back a few years (25) so youl need to check, the pits at lenwade were also host to some interesting fish but thats another story!

Well there were the "rudd" in the green house pit caught a few folk out they did, one pike angling guide I believe, then there was eric the one eyed pike, he was almost tame. The carp in the railway pit were quite famous, again eric was the main quarry, he/she was almost a trans sexual. This fish apparently changed sex about 3 or 4 times, it was well into the 30s when in its prime. the Norwich and district waters at taverham had some good fish in them, used to be quite partial to floating crust. The other place that had big carp was sennhoe park near Fakenham. Bilney lake had a big common but he was easier to see than catch!!! There was a policy started by 2 famous norfolk anglers of intro ducing carp to various waters in norfolk, lets just say they frequented the Wensum valley, so that should give you a starting point. The Wensum has produced at least 2 30s, and thats what I know about up here in Scotland. The reason that the fish all got the nickname eric was due to monty python, it was odd that the name stuck to two fish so close together. If you need any other information pm me, and Ill try to fill in any blanks.
