used to fish a gravel pit at cheriton ( now the entrance to the channel tunnel ) with a french kid who killed and cooked everything he caught, he gave me a Roach to try ansd I must say it was awfull he told me the Perch were to good to give away.(told him my dad was the baliff and charged him sixpence dayticket money )

What Size of fish are we talking of being any use to be a meal??.

Thought we all had supermarkets now a days?.

I also seem to remember lots of concerned posts about illegal imigrants eating fish from still waters.

Also I though the war ended about 60 years ago. along with rationing.

I agree with you Tony, re freshwater fish.

 

As far as sea fish are concerned I think that there is a strong commercial arguement to turn coastal fisheries over to sport fishing in many areas.

 

Don't forget that the fish in the supermarket were once alive, and could have been caught for sport!!

Fishing and Eating fish has been a part of my families life as long as I have known. I do Catch & Relaese, but I do cull as well. I have my choice of fish that this is directed and limit them to those that I am going to place on the table. A recipe to try is Lachs Lasagna! This is a dish that has surprised many a non fish eater. I have introduced it to a number of persons that stated that they did not like fish and have found that a smile and a second helping followed. When I was much younger, the only way to eat fish was to fry! This has changed over the years as health concerns have moved us all to consider baked and smoked as alternatives. It is a Healthly source of protein and should be part of your menu. JMHO!
