This has probably been asked before but here goes anyway.

I am looking for a leger rod that is versitle enough to use for bream and tench on still waters and barbel and chub on rivers. Anyone got any good recomendations?

The Shimano hyperloop's as per DavyR suggests are a good bet. If you want to spend a bit more you could look at there Beastmaster range. I have been using them and are very happy with them.

Hi,

 

I think it depends on what tip you put on but have been told with the heaviest tip on the tc could be near 1.75lb

 

My experince of this rod is, will chuck 2oz leads with ease and is a lovely rod to fight fish with.

 

With my drag set right, using 10lb line, I have no problems getting these fish in.

 

I really believe I could catch a 20lb carp on this rod.

Something else you have to take into consideration when choosing your rod is where you are going to use it! I have a powerloop heavy feeder rod which does wonders on the Severn for Barbel but when used on the Teme it didnt stand a chance and I was run ragged with it.

Big G, I know the feeling. I now use 1.75lb test on the Teme, used to use 1.5's but on the Teme it is hit and hold as the fish know where every snag is and this is where they head. I also use these for Bream and Tench fishing now instead of 1.5's. More fun on 1.5's I know, but I like to get in what I hook so I stick with the 1.75's
