Because we like it! Because, unless we are asleep in a bivvy, or worse, watching a telly in our little green tents, we actually enjoy being outside rather than being stuck indoors. But it is not as popular as it was.

No, match fishing is more popular now, coarse fishing is less popular. There is a difference .

Is match fishing really more popular now? Was a time when you could see miles of green brollies lining the Tent/Witham/Ouse et al on a Saturday.

 

Now all we see is Wagon Train type encirclements of green bivvies around carp lakes.

 

You can always spot Wordbenders, his is the one with the TV aerial on the top of a bankstick.
