light rods wanted......

Recommended Posts

Copy of a recent post of mine below. There are now only 3 left!

"The Fledger series that I designed a few years back are 3 piece rods. You could buy them with from 1 to 6 different top sections, depending on your needs. 3 of these incorporated quivertips, 3 had hollow tops. Test curves were 1lb 2ozs, 1lb 4ozs or 1lb 6ozs.

Length was 12¼ft with the hollow tops, although this could easily be cut back to 12ft as the butt was slightly longer than the other sections. This was to protect the lightest quivertip top (1½oz test curve), that was also slightly longer.

The heavier the tip, the more through action the rod becomes, but of course the more powerful. I still use mine: the 1-02 top for perch, the 1-06 for tench and the 1-02 quivertip for chub. I also have a shorter butt section for fishing on overgrown waters.

They're no longer available, but 5 blanks with a good selection of tops have recently turned up and not surprisingly I've just grabbed them!

These can be made into custom-built rods at the old price, that is £129.95 for a hollow top model or £149.99 for a quivertip model. Extra top sections are £50 and £70 respectively.

If anyone is interested please get in touch as soon as possible as I expect I'll find a home for them very quickly!"

Thanks to those that have replied.

To be honest, I'm hoping to find a pair of suitable rods for up to £100.I only want them for some occasional perch(mainly)/tench/small carp fishing so don't really want to splash out too much :)

Keep the replies coming guys

Cheers

I have a couple of Ron Thompson twin tips for sale at £50 each with reels!! PLUS post!

Come with a 1.25lb TC top and a 3 tip quiver tip. BUT post would have to be by Courier as they are a 12ft rod.

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

If GOD had NOT meant us to go fishing, WHY did he give us arms then??

(If you can't help out someone in need then don't bother my old Dad always said! My grandma put it a LITTLE more, well different! It's like peeing yourself in a black pair of pants she said! It gives you a LOVELY warm feeling but no-one really notices!))

They are the Ron Thompson Avon Quiver rods. Two tops basically same as the old John Wilsons but they have 3 push in quivers as opposed to the one fixed as with the John Wilson.

The reels are the DYNA drag Okumas graphite bodies?? Which are either a 40 or 50 size reel. With a bait runner style free running spool. Only one BB but feel very smooth. The reels have I think 2 spare spools as well each. I'll get them out later today and make sure for you and report back hopefully!!
