Fishing in Majorca

Hi all,

 

I'm off to Alcudia in August and was wondering if any one has done any fishing over there. Any advice on what sort of tackle to take, etc would be very useful too as sitting around in the sun all day doesn't really appeal to me

Across the Bay in Porta Pollensa. Has a Marina, you cannot fish in it but

does have a jetty on the outside, where the glass bottom boat parks.

Sun rise is a good time for the Mullet.

Book a ticket for the glass bottom boat ride, say for 10 AM, fish there from 0600

til then, chuck in a hand full of bread, then get on the boat and see all the Mullet you did not catch

 

Your float will go keep going under, but boy is it hard to hook them.

I'm off Thursday week for ten 10 days and my rod & reel arrived yesterday

 

Any one have any ideas of what rigs to take with me ? I'm assuming a small mix of float and ledger rigs but any advice would gratefully recieved.

I was getting bored of catching small fish on the feeder and went snorkelling. I noticed that there were mullet everywhere and they either VERY quickly nipped food off the bottom or, more often than not, cruised about 6" under the surface.

 

So, the method was to chuck in some bread (not cheap out there!) and wait for them to appear. Then fish a float with no weight near the hook and a pinch of flake.

 

They can be infuriating, but go like stink when hooked!

a lot of the "serious" sea anglers fish at night. mainly because the water is so clear during the day, that the fish can spot the line etc a mile off.

at night they tend to come in closer as well. just my experience though.

trouble is, if you are fishing at night, you cant be sat in a bar watching all the barely dressed "chicas". lol
