An educated thumb and a well setup multiplier should save you from ever backlashing, unless you happen to be casting huge spoons into the wind but even then, backlashes are a dawdle to get out. Just remember not to pull at the bird nest or it gets tighter and you'll never get it out. Disengage the spool and pull the line out gently and it should come free every time.

 

Nice video but pointless if you've been using multis for long enough. I'd like to see him try that technique with a beachcaster birdnest....lol
